“Fallout 4” was a huge game that was released back in November 2015 and won “Game of the Year” as well. Since then, many things have been added to the game such as different options when building settlements and as well as some expansion packs which add some extra flavor to the game. For the first time ever, they added mods to the game which used to be only for PC users. But here is the question, does it hold up two years after its release?
Fallout 4 is the fourth entry in the critically acclaimed “Fallout” series which is about the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust between the United States, China and possibly the rest of the world. Fallout 4 starts on October 22, 2077, just minutes before the bombs fall. The player is then rushed to Vault 111 where they would be cryogenically frozen for around 200 years. Somewhere In that 200 years, the player's son is taken from them and their spouse is killed. Finding your infant son becomes a priority (if you want it to) throughout the story. One of the beautiful things about Fallout is that there is no direction for you to go, you can just basically do whatever you want and mold your character to how you see fit.
Fallout 4 released a few expansion packs over its run to keep things interesting, the first was “Automatron” which pits you up against a crazy woman controlling robots. Another was called “Far Harbor” which takes you to Bar Harbor, Maine, in search of a missing person. The final one was called “Nuka-World” where you find yourself in an amusement park (think Hershey Park) that is run by raiders, which are the common bad guys of the Fallout franchise.
To keep things interesting after their releases, Bethesda decided to add Mods to all system in early 2017! This was huge because it meant that now players could play the game and also add a little edge to it by downloading fan-made content.
The game holds up really well in the content department, The only thing that doesn’t hold up is the graphics, which are mediocre at best. They can, however, be fixed with mods. If you are playing on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, you run the risk of crashing your system! But in all honesty, the graphics aren’t what has brought me back to Fallout. It is the fun factor that is associated with the game. So yes, Fallout 4 does in fact hold up, with new fan-made content being released all the time. Fallout doesn’t show signs of slowing down! It is defintely a must have for all gamers!
