What I am about to speak on is only something that I have seen throughout my life. From socially to seeing it online and it is something that has been bothering me every time I encounter it. Do I have my designer items? I guess you can say that I do! But, why does it offend you?
Oh and I am not only including designer brands such as Prada, Gucci, Chanel, Fendi, and D&G you know the basics. I am also including underground designer brands such as Supreme! "You don't need to be A$AP Rocky to wear Gucci"- Steve Dool
Due to the fairly high priced items of designer gear, society has made it seem that it is only for the upper echelon of society when to me it is not. It is for anyone who can afford it. Ok, are the prices high? Very much so, but does that give you the right to speak down to people who are purchasing the gear happily with their hard earned money or someone else's hard earned money? Does that give you the right to classify me as boujie or someone who "hides behind his designer"? Not at all. Stop trying to hurt those who have something you want or feel some type of way about.
Next, do not try to use the social issues of today to back up your justification for being offended. For example, "those designers you are wearing do not even like your race" well if that is the case, oh, well....I like the item and I want it, so guess what I am going to do....buy it. Do not try to post these pictures on social media about how people are enslaved by designer and want to express something that they truly are not living...not everyone is like that! Some people who wear fairly expensive stuff do not think the same of others and actually want to buy things because they genuinely like it and do not buy it to impress someone else.
Finally, stop trying to debunk what someone has. "Oh, it is fake right?" or "It is probably fake. They cannot really afford that." You have no idea where that person bought that product from there are many ways to buy slightly more affordable designer gear such as:
1. Consignment (Check out your local consignment shops every area should have or one near it).
2. Finding it on Ebay (Make sure it is authentic with the seller and try to make a deal).
3. Yard Sales (Yes, I have seen authentic designer stuff at yard sales).
All of these things I have done before.
Even with all of that, it could be a gift that they received from someone! If someone has it, let them have it! If they spent their last dollar on it....why is it your concern? Think of it like this: the clothing that you have on, someone had to design in some way, shape, or form so...you have on designer gear! Mind blowing.
