Seven Doctor Who Quotes To Remember When Life Happens.
Doctor Who TV

It's a well-known fact that life can get hard and sometimes, in your darkest moments, you need to find something to remind you that life can be wonderful and that the human spirit is resilient and strong. For me, a few things that remind me that I can and I will are inspiring quotes. Book quotes, movie quotes, TV show quotes, you name it. Wisdom and hope can be found anywhere, if you only look hard enough (or have the internet).

That being said, here are a few inspirational quotes for when life throws its worst at you, all from one of my all time favorite shows: the British sci-fi classic "Doctor Who."

1. Sometimes life will just take you along for the ride. OK, more like drag you along for the ride by your hair. This quote is for those moments. When things are so far beyond your control that the only thing you can do is say, "I meant to do that."

2. I love this quote. This is one of my personal favorites. There are so many variables in life. So many things can go right and wrong, and this quote acknowledges that and also gives us leave to believe in the magic of miracles, wonderful moments where the stars seem to have aligned just for us.

3. And then there is this bad boy. Sometimes you gotta show people and even life itself who's boss. This quote is a great reminder of that. It lets you know that no matter what, at the end of the day, you are enough. You have all that you need to stand up to life and the things that try to bring you down. You are strong enough, brave enough, and yes, just plain reckless enough to get through any storm and see sunlight one again.

4. We need optimism. Even the most jaded and cynical of us are only jaded and cynical because we feel so let down by life that we start to wonder what the point is. Optimism, which, it could be argued, is almost the same thing as faith, takes a certain amount of strength. When you see those bright, peppy and hopeful people, understand that it takes a great deal of strength to still believe in goodness when life does its best to show you otherwise. Optimism propels us forward and keeps us fighting, whether it be the ugliness of mean people or our own inner demons. Optimism keeps us connected with our inner child and lets us enjoy life more. It leads to dreaming impossible things and making them real. Life can and generally does get better. Optimism is a kind of courage. Don't dissuade it.

5. Whenever I feel down, feel like my existence isn't worth a whole lot, this quote comes to my mind. And every time it helps to remind me that even when I feel like a damned wage slave, just trying to survive, just another cog in the machine, etc, I myself am my own universe. I am a galaxy to my boyfriend, to my brothers and to my best friends, just like they are to me. And together we form this wonderful little universe that I am a very integral part of. The same goes for all of us. That's what this quote reminds me of.

6. Potential is something we all have, and that potential makes us extraordinary. We just sometimes need to be reminded it's there, and we may need help tapping it.

7. This! So very much this!

We are totally in charge of our own stories, even though life tries to make it seem otherwise. At the end of the day, the story that you leave behind constitutes a legacy. Your legacy. Proof that you existed. Overall, enjoy your life. No matter what you believe, you only get one life.

There are hundreds of beautiful, wise, uplifting, funny and inspiring quotes from this show. I certainly haven't remotely come close to listing all of them; however, I do know that quotes help me get through, and I am more inclined to listen to the message when they come from things I enjoy, and "Doctor Who" is a large part of that.

Life can be hard and unpredictable, in both good and bad ways, and we all need something to help us get through, even if that something is just words.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
