With the Powerball Jackpot growing higher and higher after each drawing, lottery madness has struck just about everyone.
We've all had those dreams where we win the lottery and get to buy tons of extravagant things. The mansion, the fancy car, the newest iPhone. When you win the lottery all of your worries are gone!
Or are they?
Despite occasionally buying Powerball tickets, I would never actually want to win the jackpot. My life would be over.
Would I ever have to worry about bills? No.
Would I have student loan debt? No.
Would I still be working a crappy part-time job to pay for my tuition? No.
Would I be concerned about the repairs bill when getting my 2006 car inspected? No.
All of my materialistic needs would be met but my life wouldn't be any easier.
I'd have to worry about managing the money correctly. (Your girl isn't trying to go to prison!) I feel that I wouldn't know who I could trust anymore. I honestly wouldn't want to tell anyone for fear of our current relationship changing.
If you have ever watched TLC on a Saturday morning, you've probably seen "Lottery Changed My Life." While some of the stories are positive, most of them are negative. The winner and their family are often stalked, harassed and threatened because they won the lottery.
$750 million is too much money.
If we're being realistic, the maximum amount of money I'd want to win is less than $500,000.
$500,000 gives me enough money to pay for my tuition, a nice vacation and maybe a small downpayment on a house or car.
As for the $750 million plus jackpot, Powerball can keep it. I'll stick to the $1-$10 scratch-off tickets at my local gas station.
