As a member of today's society, you can't look in any direction without seeing the promotion of a product, idea, political campaign, or celebrity. We all have a set of beliefs and values embedded within us, which have most likely been engrained into our heads since the time we were born. We struggle between popular culture, and what we think is "cool", and following who we truly are. We can form judgements about others for living their lives differently than we are, and berating others for the same mistakes we have made. Do you Truly Practice what you preach?

This is an issue often paired with Christianity and the seemingly judgmental demeanor of select believers. It is a trap we all fall into, believing that one should should not cheat or marry of the opposite sex, yet we ourselves have lied, cheated, and stolen. The idea of Christian faith is to be kind to others and love every individual, despite their sins and mistakes. Some believers become judgmental to those who sin differently then they do, becoming a toxic and inaccurate representation of what a Christian should be.

This occurs within the minds of those whom are not religious as well. Parents tell their children not to hit or say bad words, yet could be in an abusive relationship or expose their children to profanity on a regular basis. Celebrities endorse anti bullying campaigns or encourage kids to stay in school, yet have been the bully, and have dropped out of school or ignored college for fame. Beauty products promise quick results and a beautiful being, yet contain harsh chemicals and ingredients that harm your skin or hair.

This is a phenomena that unfortunately exists today. We, as humans, often believe that we are better than others or have the more appropriate beliefs, disregarding the fact that we are all flawed. Do you lead by example, and practice what you preach? Or do you find yourself being hypocritical? Remember that each individual faces their own struggles, and you by are no means perfect. It is okay to have strong beliefs or ideals, but these truly only speak to your character if they are followed, instead of using them as ammunition toward other's wrongs.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
