Do You Have True Friends?
Keri Leigh Ratcliff

What is your definition of a true friend? My ideal true friend is someone who I can talk to about anything, I can be myself around this person, they are always willing to talk and hang out not just when it's convenient for them or just because they need something, my ideal true friend is someone who doesn't use me because I can do things they can't. I have went through several "best friends". These friends are the ones that are only around long enough for them to get something out of it and once they get what they needed they stop talking to you. It really hurts when someone you thought was your best friend doesn't talk to you but can talk to everyone else doesn't it? People will always claim they're your friend when they really aren't. Even little kids are willing to be friends with everyone. so why can't we be that way to? There are certain people in your life that can be considered your true friend.

1. Your parents.

My mom has always been here for me no matter what. She's always willing to listen and give me advice. I have my step dad who is willing to buy me anything I want and take me any where I need to go.

2.Your grandparents.

I have the two most craziest grandparents ever! They are always willing to make me pancakes and help get me out of trouble. God.. God has given us the best advice of all time in the Bible. The information we get from God in the Bible is advice we need to hear. He loves us no matter what.

3.God-siblings.

I have the best god brother of all time! He is so sweet and kind hearted. He can always be seen smiling and is a good song leader.

4.Church family.

I have god parents at church that I know I can rely on no matter what. I have friends at church that I know I can always go to if I need a laugh.

5. Those who you have tons of stuff in common with.

I have great friends now that I'm in college who are in band with me. They are always there for me and can always make me laugh even when I'm extremely tired. Nobody needs a part time friend! People we thought were our best friends will start acting different.

Sometimes we will get looked at strange for not going along with the crowd, get made fun of and looked at get talked about. There is a song that we often sing at our church called Where No One Stands Alone. This song always reminds me that yes I get to where all I want to do is cry at times but I am not alone and neither are you. We truly have a friend in Jesus. No matter how bad things get and how much you feel like you have no one to turn to you always have God.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
