Diversity is one of the single most under appreciated traits that we possess as humans. Who are you, and who am I? Sometimes we need to take a moment to examine that because we are so unique.
Everyone has their thing that makes them unique.
As humans diversity is one trait that is greatly sought after. There are so many thing that set you apart from me. Lifestyle and way of life can be so different due to cultural diversity and ones own beliefs. Not one person is the same and that is so amazing, there are 23 chromosomes that serve as the founder for diversity. From the very beginning stages of life after fertilization of the egg cell by the sperm, fertilization creates a diploid cell that consists of forty-six chromosomes. After fertilization occurs the fertilized egg is now called a zygote and the zygote now has everything needed for normal human development. The zygote will now develop into someone unlike any other that you know.
After getting through the science aspect of diversity you can move on to physical diversity, looking around it is not hard to tell that people are very different. Nose shape, eye color, hair color, body frame, voice, etc. all of these expresses genetic variance. We are all a combination of cells and traits that have randomly been expressed and this controls your phenotype, this is done by the nucleic bases (adenine, thymine, cytosine, and guanine) bonding together to create your DNA.
We all like to do things a little differently as well, there is more than one way to do things and humans utilize that. Some of us like to work out and some of us like to play video games, and there are some of us who like to do both. We all have the things that we like to do and that should always be respected. Often times I find myself intrigued by the difference within people and eager to learn more about things that I am not educated on.
I am David, I am a boy with light brown hair and brown eyes. I like to run and play tennis. I am a Biology major at UNM and I want to be a Genetic Councilor. I am gay and I come from a small town where everyone knows everyone. No matter what you like to do or where you come from, you are you. Your genetics are so different from anyone else and you have so much to be thankful for, just like I do.
