Do We Have A Sixth Sense?

Ever wondered why or how we know when something is wrong? Or when we know when to get out of a certain place because a person's aura just doesn't feel safe? That, my friend, is our sixth sense. Apparently our sixth sense can perceive the presence of a ghost, spirit, auras, and things of that nature. Now whether that is actually true or not depends on our mind and science - and that's why I'm here to possibly break that barrier between science and the human mind with a simple conclusion most of us seem to forget.

This here is the complexity and parts of your brain; interesting right? Well it gets more complex from there. According to scientists, a human who has a sixth sense uses more than one part of his or her brain to fully process exactly what they are dealing with. This can range from smell and memory to visual association. Think about it; have you ever thought you've seen a ghost? Can you tell the intentions of someone just by looking at them or from the sound of their voice? It is strange, but this sixth sense is, or was, vital for our survival many years ago. With that being said, could we have more than that? You'd be surprised at what neurologists say.

From childhood we were taught the 5 basic senses; sight, auditory, smell, taste, and touch. What school never taught us is that we can have up to 21 according to neurologists! Astounding huh? Dr. Mercola, an osteopathic physician and an alternative medicine proponent says we have senses beyond the 6th and spiritual such as internal senses and proprioception, which is tested when doing a sobriety test. Now whether or not those things are true depends on the individual since every body is built differently. Another concern most people address is whether or not these senses are real. And of course they are! Physicians and neurologists say the human body and mind is mechanically complex, and as long as you're in tune with your body and mind, most of the things you "feel" are absolutely real.

Personally in my semesters taking biology and human anatomy, I learned a lot about the human mind and body. Each individual is different nonetheless and what each of us sense is true to it's word, our flaw is ignoring these signals for various reasons. My professor always told me "if you're going to ignore what your body is telling you, you're better off dead." And I knew where he was coming from. You see, your body is also an alarm system, it alerts you in different ways when something is wrong. Lower lumbar pain can be a sign of nerve damage and having a hard time breathing after a run can be a sign of asthma. Anything signaled from your body, whether external or internal, is your body and mind talking. 21 senses tying itself to our body and mind it's always best to listen to what it's saying.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
