Do Video Games Cause Violence In Teens?

Have you ever wondered what causes violence among teenagers? Many people may say that video games are the one to blame. Although, according to www.videogames.procon.org, "video games and violent crimes offenses have decreased in 1996 to 2005 by 170 million down to 15 million." I would have to disagree because of three reasons. Generally video games are not real life, gamers were raised with proper morals, and as well most video games are impractical to everyday life.

The first reason why I think video games do not cause teenagers to be violent is videogames generally are not based on real-life scenarios. For example, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is a shooter game, which is about war but "the game takes place in a world that is facing upheaval from climate change and new technologies in the year 2065." This does not mean that since this game is about war that people are going to treat it as real life because it is unrealistic.

The second reason why I think video games do not cause teenagers to be violent is that most gamers have proper morals that they were raised with. According to my boyfriend Ashton, who is an avid video gamer, says that, "gamers usually know that they cannot go out somewhere in public and do whatever they feel compelled to do, such as doing what the game influences. That person isn't going to go and kill someone (the enemy) because the video game is telling them to do it."

The third reason why I think video games do not cause teenagers to be violent is because video games are impractical to everyday life. Ashton mentioned that "the average person will not want to go out in public and steal an army tank or jet airplane or blow someone/something up just because their favorite video game does it." He also adds, "How many people own an actual functional sword? Most gamers do not know how to fight or properly operate these types of weapons or equipment, which makes them inexperienced in the real world.

In conclusion, how many video games can you count that are based on real life scenarios? You were probably raised on proper morals that your family taught you, so why shouldn't gamers be brought up with them too? Which means that most video games are impractical to everyday life to be able to do anything in real life.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
