Does everything happen for a reason?
I’ve had this debate with my friends multiple times over whether everything happens for a reason. The outcome usually is, “Kelly, stop living in a dream world. Everything just happens.”
And to an extent, that is true. I believe that some things in life are not predestined and do just happen out of the blue. Like why do people die young from disease? Why do natural disasters happen? Why do people have to lose loved ones?
But then there are other questions like: Why do people break up or stop being friends? Why didn’t I get that job? Why is this person in my life? And I feel like in certain scenarios, things do in fact happen for a reason.
Ever get dumped? Get fired from a job? Think your world is over? But then years later you look back and realize how far you’ve come from that experience and what you’ve learned in the process.
Last summer, I went on so many interviews for internships and was constantly discouraged when I kept getting rejected. But then, when I finally landed one, it felt perfect. It felt like that was exactly where I belonged.
Good things grow from bad things. I’ve been in difficult situations in life and toughed it out only to be pleasantly surprised by something randomly occurring in my life. Whether it’s a boy, a job opportunity to pursue or maybe just a new TV series for me to binge-watch, life has a way of working itself out. You just have to give it time. Brace yourself for the not-so-glorious moments of life and acknowledge the too-good-to-be-true moments, because in some way or another, it may have happened for a reason or there may be a lesson that you’ll soon figure out.
