Do That Thing You Have Always Wanted To Do

I got some tattoos, and now I want you to do something you have been wanting too.

We all have this bucket list inside our head. Varying from traveling, to skydiving, to buying a house, we all have some goals before we die. While some of your bucket list items may not be possible right now, I urge all of you to find something and commit to doing it.

Recently I got my first two tattoos. This had been something I wanted to do on my 18th birthday, but it happened a few months after. I was getting frustrated that I wasn't just going to go get it. I was almost disappointed. I was procrastinating and just not doing it for no true reason.

I was going to go with my friend, and we picked a day. Setting a date is so helpful because you will hold yourself accountable. After some driving we were at the tattoo shop. Was I a little nervous? I'd be lying if I said no, but I was also extremely excited. The experience was pretty sketchy the whole way through but at that point I really wasn't about to turn back and delay even more.

After a little over an hour it was done. I had finally gotten the tattoos I had wanted since forever. While they are still healing, and I can't quite see what they will end up looking like, I am just quite proud of the fact that I did it. I could have easily just gone off to college and never gotten them.

My point in writing this article isn't to tell you to go do things you will regret. I'm writing this to tell you to be empowered to do those things you have always wanted to. Don't let the voice in your head talk you out of it. I guarantee in the end you will be happy you did, and it will all be worth it.

I got my first two tattoos, what will you do?

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
