It's that time of year again. The leaves begin to fall, making the trees barren; cold air begins to remove the comfort of the sun, leading us to tasty treats like hot chocolate and brownies. Did I miss something? Oh, right! Back to books, backpacks and lunch boxes.
For some it's a new chapter in their lives. That chapter is college.
During these few weeks I've experienced excitement, stress and more stress. I haven't really been letting God relieve me of some of that stress because I procrastinated my devotionals.
So since I am going to be a college freshman and I already feel the stress and excitement, I know for a fact that there are some other students out there who feel the same. Here are 20 Bible verses of encouragement.
1. Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Jesus Christ."
2. Luke 12:24
"Consider the ravens: they do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds."
3. Psalm 55:22
"Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken."
4. Proverbs 12:25
"Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up."
5. Luke 12:28 and 29
"If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you--you of little faith. And do not set your heart on what you will drink or eat; do not worry about it."
6. Colossians 3:15
"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful."
7. Psalm 56:3
"When I am afraid, I put my trust in you."
8. Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths."
This verse is one of the most well-known verses in the Bible, but with such powerful truth.
10. Matthew 11:28, 29
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest."
11. Psalm 34:4
“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
When our fears and worry begin to consume us for a test or a late assignment, the only direction we should look is up. I know that sounds like a line from a movie, but it has truth.
There is no such thing as impossible for God, so there's no need to worry.
Philippians 4:13.
I hope this encourages you during your school year.
