DNCE Live in Concert

It is rare to experience a concert that is as high energy and exciting as a DNCE concert

Concerts are always very fun, however, it is rare that I get to go to a concert that is as exciting as DNCE's concert in Baltimore that I went to recently. It was so high energy and fast paced that there was not a single boring moment, not even during their slow songs.

I've been a fan of Joe Jonas for years. I was such a big fan of the Jonas Brothers that it is almost embarrassing. I had hundreds of posters, knew every song, and had to have tickets to every tour. So, it was almost obvious that once Joe announced the creation of his new band, DNCE, I would become a fan. However, I didn't know just how big of a fan I would be.

Every single song on their debut album, "DNCE," is catchy. There's not a single boring song and I can honestly say that I get excited anytime any of the songs come up on shuffle when I am listening to music. So, when the band announced headlining tour I knew that I needed to go. Unfortunately, there was not a show in New York, so my friend and I decided that we would travel three hours to my hometown, Baltimore, and see them there.

We didn't want to stand in line all day as it was below freezing outside, so we got in line at 5:30, as doors would be opening at 7:00 p.m. Time went by quickly since I was with a few friends having fun in line. The only trouble was the cold, but we were inside soon enough. We were lucky enough to be in the second row.

The opening act, The Skins, a band from Brooklyn, took the stage and captured everyone's attention with their catchy lyrics and exciting beat. Their music made me want to dance, and that is always something that I look for in a band. Their set lasted about a half hour and by the time they were done I was jumping with excitement for DNCE to get on the stage.

At about 9:00 p.m. the band walked onto the stage in Star Wars masks to the Star Wars theme song. They did a routine with light sabers and when they were finished they immediately went into their first song, "Naked." As the set went on, the band played every single song from their debut album. With their props on stage, their strobe lights, and high energy, the crowd was having a lot of fun and the energy in the room was through the roof.

During their song, "Pay My Rent," confetti cannons were set off blasting fake money through the crowd with the band member's faces on them. The audience was rushing to collect every member. When the band played their hit song "Cake By The Ocean," the guitarist, Cole, jumped into the crowd and the band took their final bows, ending a very exciting and fun concert.

Overall, I would definitely rush to see DNCE again and I would recommend that everyone takes the chance to see them live. When you buy tickets to their concert, you're in for an exciting high energy night.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
