Donald Trump Is Not My President

He might be the President of the USA but he is not the President of me.

In light of the recent inauguration of the second coming of Hitler, you've probably heard the term "NOT MY PRESIDENT".

Many people who are not fighting for their rights, not worrying about the safety of their friends and family, their education or really anything else for that matter use the phrase "Not My President" to make fun of liberals (and everyone else fighting against Donald Trump because for once, it's not just the liberals).

"Not My President."

We are not idiots.

We have comprehended and accepted the fact that we have a Cheeto as a leader of our country, supposed to be the Land of the Free.

We KNOW that he is the President of the United States of America.

He might be the President of our country but he is not the President of us. He is everything I have fought against my entire life. When you think of who the president should be, you think of someone who is by your side on the most important issues in your life; whether it be wanting equal pay as a woman, wanting rights to our own bodies, not worrying about whether our next door neighbor is going to get deported. We should not be worried about if we will be able to afford education. We shouldn't be worried about our children's education because the person now in charge of public education who is a billionaire that never had to worry about how they would pay for their education. We shouldn't have someone who doesn't care about students, the teachers, or the education but ladies and gentlemen, Betsy DeVos. Excellent choice, Donald Trump. You've truly outdone yourself this time.

This country needs a leader who cares about the children of the future, not someone who's pushing people out who have different beliefs. Our leader shouldn't ACTUALLY believe that America should be a Christian nation when this country was built on a certain foundation called, well I don't know: THE CONSTITUTION.

"Not My President"

because love Trumps hate.

because I am a NASTY woman.

because you will NOT grab me by ANYTHING.

You're missing the point if you actually think I don't know that Donald Trump is the President. He does not represent me or many other Americans. His proposed policies are living nightmares. The people who are saying "HE'S YOUR PRESIDENT, GET OVER IT!" are the same people who were protesting President Obama because they wanted to see a birth certificate (more-so because he was black but because I don't want to offend any in-the-closet racists, I'll leave it at his birth certificate.)

He is not my president.

He is an enemy of everything I've ever believed in.

So I'll leave this here for everyone:

Please stay informed. Please be aware of your rights. Please do not stop fighting. We do not have to sit back and watch our country burn.

He is not my President. Not now, not ever.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
