It sort of comes naturally to American's for their love of the holiday seasons. So much time is spent decorating, shopping and even crafting for around the home and for close ones. If you enjoy the holidays and like to keep your spirits up throughout the stressful, yet cheerful months you need to invest in some of these DIYs for your home.

1) Decorative candles

These are for around the whole house as accents. Just something nice to look at though out the house with a holiday spin. You can choose what to put in the water and you can even add burlap rope or a bow for the outside!

2) Stuffed jars for centerpieces or accents

These are for centerpieces or for side tables and even for a window sill. You can stuff the jars with ornaments, bows, Christmas candies and even fake snow!

3) Decorative Christmas trees (yes, besides your big one)

These are for the mantle or other little places like corner shelves and what not. They're good for that area that just needs something when you're sitting there staring at an empty space.

4) Adorable signs with Christmas sayings or symbols.

You can use these for shelf decor or even replacing an old picture frame for the season. You can keep them PG depending on your household or spice it up and make it funny.

5) Personalized Christmas ornaments

These can really show your tree off with your own style. You can pick one theme or make a bunch of different ones and have fun with it. These are the ones you like to show off when company comes over.

6) Simple and sweet door wreaths

This isn't too much but also isn't too little. You may not have enough room for a huge wreath or just don't have the patience for more detail. You can also form other words!

7) A Christmas countdown chalkboard

Everyone needs this just to remind themselves how much close they are to having off of work, being out of school and being around their loved ones. You can jazz it up as much as you want and on whatever you want too because chalkboard paint is easy to put on anything.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
