DIY Pinterest Decor Ideas for Book Lovers
"A room without books is like a body without a soul."

Because I will be moving into an apartment or dorm next year for grad school, I have been searching diy home decor on Pinterest. I LOVE Pinterest! There are so many great ideas on there and I know that I've used it in my articles before, but it's just so great I can't help it (haha)! Because I want to be a librarian, I've been looking for diy home decor for book lovers. So if you love books as much as I do, I hope that you will have fun looking through the awesome home decor ideas that I've found. I hope you have fun reading through my ideas and find a craft that you want to make for your own home or apartment. Thanks for reading everyone!

7 DIY Home Decor ideas For Book Lovers:

1. The Doormat

This one is easy and so cool! If you get a cheap doormat from Target or Walmart and some paint and you are ready to go! It doesn't have to be a Harry Potter mat, you can use whatever book phrase you want. Just have fun with it!

2. Displaying Maps from Books

I really like this one! You can get some canvas from Michaels, print the maps onto them and paint the borders if you want like they did above. Or you can just print out the maps and frame them (I think that's what I'm going to do)! You can use maps from your favorite books. I think I'm going to use the maps from Game of Thrones!

3. Your Favorite Book Quote

This one is really simple but I think it is such a great idea! You can get cheap letters from the Dollar store or just cut them out of construction paper! I love the book The Perks of Being a Wallflower, but I think I am going to have to do a quote from The Great Gatsby or To Kill a Mockingbird. There are so many great books to choose from so have fun with it!

4. Framed Bookshelves

This isn't necessarily a book themed craft but I love this idea! If you don't have a lot of room and don't really feel like paying a ton of money on a big bookshelf, this is the craft for you! I love the uniqueness of putting mis-matched frames on the front of wooden box shelves! This could be really fun!

5. The Book Spine Lamp

I know this isn't a craft but I think you can easily make your own version of this lamp! I love the idea of finding a unique lamp that you like and buying a plain white lamp shade. Then you can use Sharpie paint markers or even fabric markers to draw or paint the spines of your favorite books on the shade! This can be super cool!

6. Bookish Cross Stitch Patterns

Something I've wanted to learn how to do for awhile now is cross stitch. I LOVE cross stitch patterns and I have a couple of them hanging in my apartment right now. The image above is a quote from Where the Wild Things Are. I think this could be really fun to do (if you know how or are interested in learning)!

7. Book Wreath

Okay I LOVE this idea! I am not one for damaging books by ANY means (haha) but I think you could do this with old newspapers or even photocopy pages of your favorite books? Totally up to you! But if you are looking for something to spruce up your front door, this is the craft for you!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
