Nobody has the money to go to the mall and drop $50+ on Halloween costumes. You're only going to wear it for one night, so why not use things you already own? Being the dirt-poor college student that I am, I can't consider walking into a costume store or even Wal-Mart. So, the solution to this dilemma is to take what you have and turn it into something totally rad. As my Sociology professor would say- "Dig?"

So much dig.

Ok, so here we go:

1. Iconic Celebs

This look is super easy! All you need is a red-toned lipstick or cream blush or wet some red eyeshadow to create the lightening strike across the face and then use some blue eyeshadow to create the shadow. The red eyeshadow can also be used to create definition on the eyes to bring the look together. If you want a more dramatic look, you could add some lipstick or dramatic eyeliner. This is a great way to honor the late David Bowie and still look cute!

2. Animals

When in doubt, go for a sexy cat or bunny, right? But hey, there's more to the animal kingdom than little furry animals. Think about other animals such as deer, lions, and cheetahs-perhaps even a snake. For this look, you could use white eyeshadow, regular bronzer, black liquid liner, as well as pencil liner and some fun lashes! Get out there and prowl... or prance.

3. Pop Art

This look is so easy it's ridiculous. You'll need white eyeliner to make the dots, black eyeliner to draw the outlines, red lipstick, and blue, pink, and yellow eyeshadow. I'm doing this look next year! It's so original and eye catching, you're sure to have everyone's attention.

4. Superhero/Supervillians

The Harley Quinn makeup look is my absolute favorite because it's so badass! Her makeup is fierce and her attitude is off the charts-basically I just want to be her. And for one night, anyone could! All you need is red lipstick, black eyeliner, red and blue eyeshadow and maybe some red and blue hair chalk as well! Don't leave your attitude at home though, you'll need it to pull off this look.

5. Fantasy

Almost every makeup guru on YouTube has done a video on how to be a mermaid for Halloween, and that's okay. It's so simple and pretty, it's almost too perfect to pull off. You'll need purple, pink, and blue eyeshadow, glitter, fishnet tights, and pink lipstick or gloss. To get extra for your look, find a pastel wig or a sea themed headband. Get out there and slay, Ariel!

6. Creepy Doll

If you have super porcelain looking skin, this look will work amazingly for you! All you need is red lipstick, concealer, a brown liner pencil, white eyeliner, black liner, and dramatic lashes. You'll give people the creeps like I have right now...

Have a safe and super lit Halloween everyone! (Watch out for clowns...)

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

Find excitement in your life and start exploring wherever you are right here, right now.

mu bucket list

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
