Whether you're looking to save a little money this holiday season or you're just a creative person, creating a gift for someone by hand is not only fun, but also quite sentimental. Here are 6 DIY gifts you can create for under $15:

1. Terrarium

Cost: $6-$15

Pebbles: Take a walk around your neighborhood and find some small rocks/pebbles lying around. Don't forget to wash them off!

Bowl: $6 on Amazon, or find a small glass bowl lying around.

Air Plant: $7 on Amazon (can vary)

Just place the rocks at the bottom of the bowl and the air plant on top and voila! You now have a homemade terrarium that is low maintenance but also a great addition to any room.

2. Playing Card Book

Cost: $5-$10

Blank playing cards: $5 on Amazon

Sharpie or Pen: $3 (varies) on Amazon if you don't have one already. Any form of permanent marker will work.

The only other thing you need for this craft is 52 reasons why you love someone! This doesn't just have to be for a significant other, it can be done for family members and friends as well.

3. "Open When" Letters

Cost: $0-$7

White Envelopes: $7 on Amazon

Colored Envelopes: $7 on amazon

If you have some envelopes lying around, this DIY gift is great for you as it comes at no cost. If you would like to get more creative and use colored envelopes, they are the same price as white envelopes. The content of each letter can range depending on the theme. The whole point of this one is to show the person you're giving them to that you genuinely care about them no matter what.

4. Spa-in-a-Jar

Cost:$0-$10 (varies on what you already have)

Sugar: $2

Coconut oil: $5

Mason jar: $2

Ribbon: $1

The gift of a spa treatment is music to most women's ears. This gift is quick, and completely natural, making it even better for you. Another upside is that you probably already have most of these ingredients lying around the house somewhere. If you'd like to get even more creative, check out this link.

5. Fake Flower Display

Cost: $8-$11

Corks: $6 on Amazon or can use saved ones from Wine Bottles

Flowers: $2-$5

This display can be used a household decoration or even a centerpiece at a family dinner. They can be placed in just about any size jar you have lying around, just be sure the flowers will fit.

6. Meaningful Mug

Cost:$0-$15

Mug: $4 on Amazon (or can use a household mug)

Colorful Sharpies: $11 on Amazon

Just bake at 400 for 45 minutes and you're good to go! But seriously, don't skip that step unless you want the design to wash off after going through the dishwasher for the first time. Whether you just want to put an initial on there or give a married couple their own "Mr." and "Mrs," mugs, you can't go wrong with this gift.

There are endless amounts of DIY projects that can be done at a low price, but still be meaningful. I hope these ones inspire your creative mind and help you on your way to creating the perfect gift.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
