What’s better than a homemade gift? Giving a gift is always an exciting feeling, but knowing you spent time and effort actually making it with love makes it so much better! Here are some 'do-it-yourself' crafts that I’ve made over the years that made awesome gifts that people will always cherish.
(Most of these are very low quality pictures, as I took them a while back using an iPhone 4.)
1. Tie Blankets
Tie blankets are great because they are so cozy and can be very personal. Making one is also easier than it may seem! What you'll need: two pieces of fleece (I usually do 2.5 yards each) from Walmart, Hobby Lobby or any craft / fabric store, and a pair of scissors.
2. Personalized Photo Frames
Giving a photo gift is always a good option, but it can be made even better with a personalized frame! What you'll need: plain frames (Hobby Lobby's are always 1/2 off), a photo, ribbons, stickers and glue.
3. Decorated Bulletin Board
What you'll need: bulletin board, scrapbook paper, stickers, photos, tape and glue.
4. 'Home Sweet Home' Wall Art
This one is perfect for roommates! What you'll need: frame, printed picture of state, ribbon, stickers, push pins and glue.
5. Scrapbook
I love scrapbooks because they are super fun to make and hold all of your memories in one place. What you'll need: photos, scrapbook, scrapbook paper, tape, scissors, glue and memorabilia.
6. Decorated Mugs
Plain mugs are extremely cheap and can be transformed with sharpies! What you'll need: mugs, sharpies, clear acrylic sealer spray and an oven.
7. Upholstered Furniture
This one was a lot easier than I thought. I found a cheap, plain chair at Goodwill and bought some fabric and simply cut it into two pieces and used a knife to slide it into the edges of the chair. What you'll need: chair, fabric, scissors and knife.
8. Canvases
The possibilities are endless with homemade canvases! Check out Pinterest for hundreds of ideas. What you'll need: blank canvas, acrylic paint, paint brushes and glitter.
