Ladies, I get it! Keeping yourself aesthetically together is difficult, especially when you're a student. It seems there isn't enough time, but the biggest complain that I hear, or share is beauty products are expensive. Before college, I was the type of person who had a set routine with set products, however, I have learned with time that I can still look great and spend less than half the money. A lot of companies charge a ton of money for something that seems to vanish. All you need is a little time to make the products yourself using the simplest ingredients. I've tried all of these at home, and I swear by them!

1.Face Mask

Giphy

One tablespoon of coffee grounds

One tablespoon of cocoa powder

& One tablespoon of coconut oil

Mix it all together and scrub on your face and set for 15 minutes and then rinse! Do this two to three times a week, but no more than that. It could dry out your skin!

2.Blackhead Removal

¼ cup of lemon juice

Two tablespoons of baking soda

Two tablespoons of sugar

Mix together and put on blackhead problem areas and rinse with warm water. Only use this once a week, again, to avoid dry skin.

3.Remove Acne

Giphy

One tablespoon of coconut oil

One tablespoon of baking soda

Mix together and leave on for ten minutes in problem areas. Rinse the solution off with warm water.

4.Body Scrub

Giphy

One tablespoon of coffee

One tablespoon of sugar

One tablespoon of coconut oil

Mix together and use two to three times a week.

5. Whiten your teeth

One teaspoon of baking soda

One teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide

½ teaspoon of water

Mix together and store in a small plastic container and use three times a week. I typically alternate days in substitute for regular toothpaste in the morning.

6.Hair Mask

Giphy

½ cup of coconut oil

Two tablespoons of olive oil

Mix together and leave on for 15 minutes on wet or dry hair, follow with shampoo and conditioner. I typically do this once a week.

7.Sometimes you can't make it to the nail salon, but your feet look crazy. Here's a small hack to get the dead skin off your feet.

Giphy

¼ cup of Listerine (I use the blue)

¼ cup of vinegar

½ cup of warm water

Soak your feet in the solution for ten minutes and rinse, the dead skin will fall off!

If you want to then paint your toenails, be sure to store your polish in the fridge for fifteen minutes prior to painting. It thickens the polish, making it easier to paint with.

8.DIY shaving cream

Giphy

One cup of any conditioner

One cup of shampoo

Five tablespoons of lotion

Five tablespoons of baby oil

Mix and set for an hour. I usually store it in a spray bottle that you can buy at Target.

9.Finally, just a quick tip to help with eyelashes.

Giphy

Clean an old mascara brush with warm water and Dawn dish soap and when no mascara is on it. Before bed use the brush to apply Vaseline to your eyelashes. My lashes have grown immensely since I started using this hack.

I know some of these seem strange and I was skeptical, but these every day items can serve more of a purpose than in your kitchen. My skin looks clear and stays smooth, my hair is way less damaged, and I'm spending SO much less on products that don't last me very long. The good news about most of these items is even buying in bulk is incredibly cheap! I found most of these recipes on Pinterest, check them all out!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
