Diversity Should Be Incorporated Into Everybody's Lifestyle

Why diversity is important to me.

Diversity Should Be Incorporated Into Everybody's Lifestyle
Diversity

I attend a school that thrives off its diversity. There are students from all around the world incorporated into each classroom. Walking around campus, you hear several new languages and see many different ethnicities. I was not always from a place similar to this. Where I am from, my school was predominately rich and white. We were the school that "bought everything with our dad's money." There were many people from that school who were not accustomed to getting anything they please, but for the most part, it was. Most schools knew my specific school because of that reputation.

Coming from that type of environment to one of the most diverse campuses in the East coast was a cultural shock to me. I had learned about many cultures and many ideas in high school classes, but I had never actually seen them put into play. I thought the idea of having a completely different perspective of life was so unique because I could only imagine myself going through what I already had. I have seen people from many other backgrounds and people who came from all over the world to Fairfax and ended up at the same university as I did.

Diversity should be incorporated into people's lives because it gives people the ideas of different cultures, ethnicities, backgrounds to people who have never related to that before. There are benefits of having diversity in each place you go to such as in work, school, and friend groups. The importance is having more perspective in the opinions in your society is extremely important so you can see many views of the world.

I really enjoy how the university I attend is so diverse, there are many projects that are revolved around learning about other people's backgrounds and hearing about other people's traditions. It is important to be able to learn about things that you may not be normally accustomed to. Diversity is a benefit to people as they grow up because many it accustoms people to the real world with jobs and social lives.

Whether it is because of your schooling, society you live in, or job you have, everybody should experience a diverse community sometime in their life. It makes people look at different views while also learning about something that they had never heard of before. Now that I have been exposed to diversity, I don't think I would want to go back to how I was before with only a few cultures around me. Hearing other languages, seeing how people dress, and experiencing someone else's "normal" is a really intriguing thing to be able to see.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
