Liberals do not care for intellectual diversity

The case for diversity has supposedly been championed on by the left, and this has allegedly been about race, religion, gender and sexual orientation. Diversity is something that we hear about all the time, and it is an issue that is incredibly sensitive to certain individuals. I would like to shed light on some of the logical inconsistencies spurred by what I call the “diversity flaw.”

The diversity flaw attempts to compensate for past mistakes by making a reversal of policies that inherently hurts the country. For example, It has become expected for organizations to hire a diverse range of employees in order to appear to “diverse” and “meet a certain quota.” The very idea of a quota system simply does not provide association to the idea of equal opportunity. I have written in the past about the case Regents of the University of California v. Bakke and how affirmative action is simply discriminatory. It does not make sense for unqualified individuals to get positions solely because they are a “minority.”

Well, since the left has become so race conscious, they have essentially infused the culture and system with a single unitary mindset that is expected of “minority races.”

For example, African Americans, Asians, and Hispanics are expected to be liberal, vote Democrat and support “equal opportunity,” because, why wouldn’t they? African Americans and Hispanics who break from this unitary mindset and support the conservative or libertarian cause are labeled as Uncle Tom or Uncle Juan. Isn’t this a form of slavery that is perpetuated by the left on minorities, and constantly brainwashing them into thinking that liberals are the ones who are for them? This method has worked so well that, minority groups have started brainwashing themselves into thinking so and essentially continuing on the cycle of intellectual slavery.

A recent crowning of the new Miss USA sheds a little bit of light on the idea of intellectual slavery.

Kara McCullough, who is a physical scientist at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, won the Miss USA crown, and she stated that she believed that she was privileged to have healthcare because she had a job. She also stated that she was against man hating and wanted to “transpose feminism into equalism.” These remarks are not necessarily conservative or even anti-feminist; it simply is a variation of opinion, but it caused a firestorm among liberals and feminists who started bashing her on social media for having a little variation in her opinion.

This event essentially proves my point that liberals do not care about intellectual diversity.

If this continues, the left will gradually lose support from minority groups, and this has already been prevalent, especially during the Trump campaign. I have personally known individuals who have switched sides because of the problem with the lack of intellectual diversity from the other side. Republicans and conservatives do not need to focus on racial diversity in order to obtain diversity, we just stick true to our message. The Texas Federation of College Republicans is an example of this. We have the most diverse board in the country and we have our first African American chairman. I am proud to be part of a movement that embraces not just racial diversity but also intellectual diversity.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
