We all have a little Squidward in us.

Even if you are a generally nice person, there are always those few people who push your buttons. We’ll call them Spongebob and Patrick.

Spongebob and Patrick have mastered the art of irritating Squidward. No matter what they do, they have the ability to drive Squidward up a wall with their antics. More often than not, Squidward blames this on their differences. Spongebob and Patrick are just not as sophisticated. They don't see eye-to-eye. Naturally, this drives Squidward to leave his home in Bikini Bottom and take up residence in Tentacle Acres, a community full of people just like him.

At first, Squidward is overjoyed. After all, who doesn't want to be surrounded by people with the same taste in music, food and activities?

But soon, he realizes that his monotonous utopia is not all that it's cracked up to be.

Everyone is the same. Everyday is the same. There's no variety; there's no excitement.

There's no Spongebob and Patrick to break up the monotony.

Though the duo angers Squidward regularly, they're also the ones who keep his life fresh on a day-to-day basis. They add a bit of diversity to Squidward's life.

Without diversity, Squidward's life seems perfect at first glance. He lives the life that he's always wanted, and there was minimal struggle to continue that lifestyle. But with diversity, his life was interesting. He never really knew what kind of shenanigans Spongebob and Patrick would present to him, and that was the beauty of it: the differences in personality prevented boredom.

The same is true with our society. It seems like a great idea to surround yourself with people that are just like you so that you can discuss books, movies, music, etc. It's always nice when you agree with people. But it's also nice to respectfully disagree with someone and debate with them. Differing personalities, backgrounds and experiences add spice to our lives. They give us stories. They keep our world from looking like Tentacle Acres.

If every person on this planet was just like you, life would be incredibly bland. Don't believe me? Just ask Squidward.

After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
