We Are All Human

Accepting our differences is so important.

We are all human, correct? If this is so true, then why is it so hard for our society to get along with one another? When we were young, we were taught to be kind to everyone regardless of any differences they had. I wish people could still have that mindset now. God created different people for a reason; we were put on this Earth together, so what is the point of not getting along.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where the words racism, discrimination, segregation, prejudice, intolerance, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, etc. exist. There is no reason to hate someone because of their race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. No single person or group of people is better than the other. I wish everyone could be peaceful and not look down on anyone else. There should not be this feeling of superiority over anyone. We are all equal so we should treat each other as equals.

People are so scared of differences that they are not used to. But these differences should be taken as a time to learn about others, learn about their experiences, backgrounds, and history. The world would be so boring if there were only one type of people. It is so interesting to learn about different traditions, different languages, different feelings and views that others have, and different beliefs. Diversity is truly a gift that we need to hold on to. Instead of rejecting differences, we need to start accepting them. Being united is better than being apart.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
