Each year over 20 million dairy calves are slaughtered for veal or cheap beef worldwide.
Cows do not produce milk all the time. Just like humans, cows naturally produce enough milk to feed their newborn. Dairy cows now produce over 12 times more milk due to biological manipulation the dairy industry demands.
Mothers are separated from their babies immediately following birth. Out of 100 newborns, 97 of them will be stolen from their mothers immediately following birth within the first 24 hours of life.

The high demand for milk and dairy products keeps dairy cows in a cycle of artificial and repeated impregnation. Newborns keep dairy cows producing as much milk as possible, leading to a huge surplus of calves. The dairy industry sells these "extra" calves to be slaughtered for veal or cheap beef. The veal industry would not exist without the dairy industry.
Most dairy cows will never experience a life worth living and are denied the most basic behaviors. Over 90% of U.S. dairy cows are confined in primarily indoor operations, with more than 60% tethered by the neck inside barren stalls.

Cows can live to be 25 years old in their natural habitat. On a dairy farm, their lives consist of forced impregnation to produce milk for us to drink. They are virtually confined their entire life and their bodies become overused and weak in 4 or 5 years. At this point, they will be sent to slaughter. This is the life of over 9 million dairy cows in the US.
Ditching dairy is easier than you think. There are dozens of plant-based milk alternatives on the market today, and not all of them are gross! Experiment and try something new like substituting traditional creamer for coconut milk in your morning cup of coffee. Your body will thank you and millions of cows will also!
