Ten reasons why you should take your best friend to your next social event.

Ditch The Boy, Take Your Best Friend

As a college student, it is hard to feel as though you do not need to be in a relationship. You're constantly reminded by the completely unnecessary public displays of affection happening all over campus. Then you remember that event that has been in your planner all semester is this weekend, and oh yeah, you still don't have a date. Just another thing you have to stress about, but you shouldn't have to deal with yet another problem. Instead of trying to find a guy last minute, just go with your best friend!

Here are 10 reasons why you should ditch the dude and take your best friend to your next social event.

1. Blind Date Struggles

Blind dates are often the worst dates. My friend once had a blind date that was so horrible she hid behind me the whole night. Don't test chance. Save your luck for your next test.

2. She's way more dependable.

Whether it's borrowing her dress, borrowing her makeup, or just making sure she doesn't ditch you last minute, your best friend is more dependable than some dude that's a-friend-of-a-friend.

3. Pictures

Pictures are a staple of the night. If you didn't take pictures by the brick wall at The Depot, did semi/formal even happen? Guys don't understand the art that is picture taking or how to do the perfect "srat" pose. However, your best friend does, and she's so good at doing them that she might as well major in it.

4. She won't try to get with you at the end of the night.

For some reason guys think the invitation to the event includes an invitation for the end of the night. WRONG. Let's get this straight. I'm using you for pictures. I do not have any intentions of anything happening so get your mind out of the gutter, sir.

5. Double Function Assumption

Apparently taking the same guy to more than one social event constitutes as "talking" or being in a relationship. So instead of having to shoot down rumors of you and so-and-so dating just take your best friend (yet again) because that doesn't mean anything.

6. Letting Loose

Not all guys have the confidence to take the dance floor and let loose, but your best friend and you sure can. Don't worry about leaving him at the table. Instead, you and your best friend can get down with your bad selves and show everyone your rad moves.

7. Your date won't hit on your friends

Nothing is more embarrassing than your date trying to get with one of your friends. Save yourself the trouble and ditch the dude altogether.

8. Babysitting

At some point or another we've all felt as though we're babysitting our dates. Making sure they don't throw up on the bus, or making sure they're having a good time can be incredibly stressful and take away from your enjoyment of the night. Most likely your best friend already knows most of your friends and fits in seamlessly. So, there's no worry if she's having a good time or not.

9. Your best friend won't judge how much you eat

Not that your date should judge what you eat or how much you eat, but there's no need to feel self-conscious or trying to appear "lady-like" when your best friend is also plowing through her taco and plate of chips and queso.

10. At the end of the night, you both want the same things

Netflix and chill, but really you and your best friend just want to kick off those insanely uncomfortable heels, jump into bed with snacks, and binge watch "The Office."

Social events are a highlight of Greek life and are often referred to as "the fun stuff," so don't let some stupid boy ruin your night. Bring your best friend and add this night to the list of shenanigans y'all get into.

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
