Learn From Your Mistakes, Do Not Regret Them

College has transformed from a place that you pay five figures a year to get a degree to a place that every high school senior looks forward to because of parties. If you attend college, try not to get carried away. You may have gotten distracted, you may have made some bad mistakes, you may have tried 'too hard' but what you need to is own up to your mistakes and try again. I highly suggest you do not get carried away in 'college'.

To The One Who Got Distracted...

To the one who got distracted, you can get back to how you used to be. Distractions can be deadly but trust me, we all get distracted. You may not have all of your priorities in check, but you may get a harsh reality check before you realize that you need to focus. Take your distractions and use them as rewards. If you get distracted by Netflix, do at least one page of that paper then reward yourself with an episode.

To The One Who Went To Nothing But Parties...

To the one who goes to nothing but parties, parties do not pay your bills. You came to college to learn and get a degree. You can celebrate a stressful week but do not make going to parties your main priority. If you do not have good grades to stay in college, you will have to go back home. Granted you can always go to parties when you are home, just remember that you need to pay for parties and/or outfits. Your parents can only give you so much money before you are on your own. You do not need to go out every weekend to have fun, just sit back and relax for one weekend. You will appreciate doing absolutely nothing.

To The One Who Did Nothing But Smoke Weed And Drink...

To the one who did nothing but smoke weed and drink, you are so cool! Yes, that was sarcastic. Money adds up and it is something that we do not have a lot of in college. Spend it wisely. Granted you may feel a need to drink or smoke because you are going to a party or you are stressed, but remember the effects of both. Weed will only escalate into even more extreme drugs and that only brings negativity. I used to have a cousin who was so wrapped up in smoking weed and drinking more and more. Keep in mind that I used to word "used to" when referring to my cousin. It may seem like drinking and smoking are things you should do in college but it is not meant for everyone. If you see your friends drinking a lot or smoking a lot, do not try to be like them when you know you can not keep up to them. Do not make a fool of yourself or cause a scene.

To The One Who Made A Fool Of Him/Herself At A Party...

To the one who made a fool of him/herself at a party, only time will heal. Yes, people will talk about you for a small time but trust me it will be old news by the next week. We are humans, we make mistakes but just remember to not push yourself past your own limits. Be wise and be safe.

To The One Who Tried To Fit In...

To the one who tried to fit in, be your own person. Nobody likes a duplicate. You tend to flock towards people who are similar to you but do not feel that because you are hanging out with them that you must be exactly like them. Whether it is fashion, taste in music, food, or activities, it is okay to be a little different. There is a crowd, group, and club for people just like you in College, all you have to do is find who you truly are and maybe join it.

To The One Who Felt Like They Wanted To Drop Out...

To the one who felt like they wanted to drop out, it is okay. Many people will tell you not to but I believe that the only person who knows you best is that inner you. You know what you did and you know what is best. Your mom will help you but you will ultimately make that decision. My advice would be for you to look into a different college rather than dropping out completely.

To The One Who Feels Like Nothing Can Get Better...

To the one who felt like nothing can get better, it actually can. One bad grade will not hurt you. Most of the time, if you do badly in a class you can retake it. Sometimes it is not you, it can be the Professor. If you feel that it is your social life, try meeting new people or participating in new activities. Remember that it is College and we all have highs and lows. Things do get better, you just have to stay positive.

To The One Who Wants To Better Him/Herself...

To the one who wants to better him/herself, all it takes is patience, time and effort. You need to have the patience to change yourself because your results won't be shown immediately. You will need time to see these changes and you will need to put a lot of time into something you want to change. You will need effort because nothing in life is handed to you, you need to work to achieve it. You will not better yourself by sitting on your bed, being miserable. If you do not like something about yourself, try talking to some friends for advice or Google it. Change is perfectly fine so do not give into those who tell you that it is not. You can only change yourself, you need to have the initiative to stop what you are doing to better yourself.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
