7 Reasons Why Distance Means Nothing When It Comes To Best Friends
Huffington post

Best friends are the people that you tell everything to and they're always there for you. When I was in high school I met these two people that I didn’t think would make such a big impact on my life but they did. I can’t even begin where to start with how much they have done for me during my last two years of high school. We did everything together and we even called ourselves the trio (we still do lol).

I graduated high school and ended up going away to college. Not seeing them all the time was one of the weirdest things because I went from seeing them all the time to seeing them when I came home and sometimes that even didn’t happen. It was the first time I dealt with something like this but bless them for keeping in touch with me and I love them to death.

Having long distance best friends is hard at times. let me tell you there were times where I wished I could just go home and hang out with them and forget all my problems but I couldn’t. But having them in my life has taught me so much and here are some things that I learned:

1. They’re still you're number one supporter

Anything from a push to go to class to be just as excited for you when you get a good grade on an exam. They're first ones to like your tweet or Instagram post and they even share my Odyssey articles.

2. They're still always there for you

You might think this kind of goes hand in hand with being you're number one supporter and in some cases, it might but this time not so much. They're still the ones I go to when things get hard or when things are great. More times then not they're the first one I tell when something good or bad happens.

3. Late night phone calls (these happen more often then you think)

Trust me when I say this because more often than not this is the only time you can fit in a phone call with them because you're all busy with classes and other things. There's also been plenty of times where I called then while I was walking somewhere either to class or when I was walking home from somewhere. I can't forget about the FaceTime, too.

4. The group chat is always blowing up

Let me tell you I have woken up with more than 100 messages from the group chat before. But anyway I wouldn't give it up for anything. We talk every day all day in that thing so its like were never truly apart.

5. When you finally see them again it's like a big reunion

Every time I get to spend time with them when I home its like nothing has changed. We pick up right where we left off even though we sometimes tell the same stories but it never really gets old.

6. Coming home for a weekend, calls for a spontaneous adventure with them

Late night adventures, trips to baseball games, all are a must. Whether it's just to Walmart or to get food, these are the times I'll never forget. Sometimes its just what I needed and what I missed about being home all the time.

7. No matter the distance, we're still best friends

I think this is the most important one because you lose touch with people all the time. But with them somehow we defied the odds and three years later and we are still best friends.

Having long distance best friends is truly a blessing and I don't know what I'd do with out mine.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
