As a high school senior, the most anticipated moment is graduation. Then, shortly after that, it's college. Like most 18-year-old girls, I have good friends. Some who, when we graduated, we stopped talking and went our separate ways. But, I have an ultimate BFF who has been my bestie since junior year of high school. We do absolutely everything together from random shopping trips to Target to getting half-priced slushes at Sonic every day. But there is one little bump in our friendship. She is going to the University of Missouri in mid-central Missouri and I am attending Grand Canyon University all the way in Phoenix, AZ.

The summer before college, the topic of separation never even came up because we refused to bring up such a sad subject. Sure, our time together is slowly coming to close, but there are many positives to going to a different college than your best friend.

1. We are living in two completely different areas of the country.

Sure, distance is a hard concept but we are both going to be experiencing two completely different worlds. Mizzou is full of different traditions and is located in an ideal college town full of hipster eateries and tons of fraternity boys whereas Phoenix is a pretty large area full of different people and unique attractions. Living in two different areas means for different experiences that we just get to share with each other!

2. Facetime is going to become our new BFF.

I will never have to worry about missing my best friend's face that is thousands of miles away because she is literally just one easy click away. And, trust me, our phone calls never get boring because we always have something new to chat about. Honestly, the only way we will probably end up hanging up is if our phone dies!

3. Holiday breaks make for the perfect time to visit each other and introduce each other to the new people in your life.

In my situation, my best friend and I have different winter and spring breaks which just gives us the perfect excuse to visit one another! Bringing her to meet my new friends and my new community is just another way to make our friendship stronger and for her to actually get a glimpse at the new chapter of my life. Plus, now she can see all the cute boys on campus in real life rather than their social media.

4. Becoming independent away from each other doesn’t mean you are forgetting your friendship.

My best friend and I are both very independent girls who just happen to depend very much on each other. So, obviously, deciding to choose different colleges was never something that we were upset about. To us, this is a new era and we are going to be on a new path in our lives. Yet, the idea of leaving each other behind was never a thought. We both attended different high schools so this is basically "High School 2.0." College never seemed like this big goodbye and it certainly does not have to!

So, if you and your BFF are going to college an hour away or twenty hours away, I completely understand what you're going through. Just remember this goodbye can be temporary as long as you put the work in to maintain your friendship.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
