I apologize to all the hearts I crush, and disappoint before I write this dismal article about Disneyland. Disneyland is not that great of a place. Every experience that glorifies the excitement of the ‘Happiest place on earth,’ I believe are all foolish. Bah Humbug! Don’t misapprehend me.
I grew up watching and enjoying Disney movies, from “The Lion King, Toy Story, Mulan, Peter Pan” and more. I enjoy them now. As a child, I always wanted to go to Disneyland and engulf myself in this magical experience every commercial advertise. I never had the opportunity to.
Two years ago, I finally had the chance. Fortunately, I did not have to pay a dime. It was a parting gift from my internship. It was me and 8 colleagues within the program. We had an expert tour guide among us as well, and he knew all the shortcuts and schedule throughout the park. We journeyed our way through one ride to another from shooting lasers and falling steep from a fabricated mountain. Drenched not in water, but in speculations. Where is this happiness and enjoyment that I should be having? Where is this child-like being that I am not experiencing? I enjoyed the presence of my peers more than a kid enjoying his overpriced and bland hamburger.
Disneyland related pictures and posts on my Facebook newsfeed, I look at it with displeasure. You are kidding me, right? Many, not one, would rather buy annual passes than pay for their rent. I don’t get it. It is not worth it to put yourself in financial distress over mere passes with blackout dates. Passes to go to a place that's overcrowded, overpriced and all in all a big “meh.” As Bart Simpson would say.
I would rather spend my $300-700 that's worth almost a whole month of hours to travel or do something more heart throbbing. The minute of falling from a plane is far more exciting than Disneyland. Boring is not my taste of adventure, but if you care to change my mind and seduce me into buying annual passes. Please do.
