Disney World's Animal Kingdom

My weekend vacation in one of Disney World's parks down in Orlando.

fter 16 weeks of graduate school, I needed a break! Thankfully, I only live 3 hours away from Orlando. I decided to go to one of Disney's theme parks that I've never been to before. I enjoyed going to Epcot and the Magic Kingdom last year for spring break and, from what my family told me and the pictures taken (who remembers anything from when they were 10?), I've been to Hollywood Studios. It was called MGM Studios back then so I guess I'm that old now.

Anyways, the pictures below are some of the highlights of my Animal Kingdom trip. I'll try to describe each one of the pictures taken, to the best of my abilities. It was really hot that day.

One of the first, or birds that I saw were these beautiful white Ibis.

From the movie "Up," Dug and Russell took pictures with the kids who waited patiently for them.

Dug and Russell were on their way to the break room after standing under the hot Florida sun. Luckily, I was able to get Dug to wave back at me before taking short break.

Next, I walked towards Dino Land. Because I am so hilarious, I wrote my own caption on this Snapchat picture.

After strolling through ancient times, I took a snapped this picturesque outline of a temple in front of "Mt. Everest." It was stunning. I even rode the Mt. Everest ride afterwards. It was scary for me because I'm not into roller coasters, whatsoever.

Then, after the ride and eating lunch, I waited for the main bird show. Prior to the show, one of the cast members (name of Disney employees) gave a preview of what to expect from the show. In the GIF above, he showed a beautiful owl and its features.

The GIF above showed one of the amazing aerials that the birds performed for us on the show. I wish I knew which bird this was but they mentioned too many bird for me to memorize.

The last part of my Animal Kingdom was a safari ride. The zebra was initially looking at the vehicle but when I snapped this picture, he turned around. At least he looks gorgeous.

Because of the hot weather, the giraffes hid under the trees. I'm kind of surprised they found a tree that high because most of the trees were shorter than them.

And that was my "magical" trip in the Animal Kingdom. I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the GIFs I created in this article. I can't wait to go back to Disney World. Hopefully, it will be in a different park.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
