Why Disney World Needs To Follow Universal And Finally Make The Change

Disney World, in particular, is of great interest to me because I have enjoyed the parks and Disney Springs countless times as a guest, and I am also a former cast member. I always associate Disney World with fun and happy memories, and always enjoy my time exploring the parks, and I would hate for something seriously tragic to happen that would change that way I feel. It’s time they follow in the footsteps of Universal Studios and make a very much-needed change.

That change is enhancing the entrance security at all parks and resorts at Disney World in Florida. With its recent incidents where two separate guests tried to bring guns into the park, it’s time they step it up. They need to stop ‘randomly selecting’ guests to walk through metal detectors, which cause guests to be annoyed and feel like they are being targeted and profiled. There’s a very simple and smart solution to ensure guests do not feel singled out and everyone is safe – every guest should be walking through a metal detector whether they have a bag to be checked or not.

I’m sure we can all agree the bag checks currently done at Disney World are in no way that secure or reliable. Nine out of ten times an older individual, more likely retired from his or her first career spends less than five seconds looking at your bag before moving on to the next guest. This isn’t sufficient anymore, Disney World always says the guests are the number one priority, so they need to keep their word and improve the very lax security that is in place now.

Unfortunately, we live in a world today where we must be extra cautious and responsible to ensure people’s safety. Trust and good faith that all guests will be smart and make right decisions like not bringing guns into the park is no longer enough. We are no longer living in a ‘Pleasantville’ society, just because you’ve entered a world of fantasy and wonder when you walk into the Magic Kingdom does not mean you are protected to the happenings of the real world. In the world we live in today everyone needs to be alert and prepared for the unexpected, and Disney World is definitely not immune to that.

A bad incident would change the entire culture of Walt Disney World, and cause many to fear visiting the very popular destination, and I would hate to see that ever happen. If Disney World made these needed changes now to better ensure all guests are safe and free to not worry when entering the parks. It would be a great move for Disney, as it once again shows their priority is to the guests.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
