We may get older, but some movies never get old.

Disney Throwback: Halloween Movies
The Nightmare Before Christmas Wikia

Do you remember those Halloween movies that as a kid you used to watch on Disney Channel, over and over again, year after year? If you have forgotten I assure you that there is no need to fret. With Halloween approaching, and as you reminisce about the past, you must be itching to rewatch those movies. I'll give you a little reminder of a few of those movies.

1. The Halloween Town Movie Series (4 Movies)

So I'll give you a little sypnosis. I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't seen it, but this movie is a legend when it comes to Hallloween movies. I watch it every year, and my brother watched it with me when we were young. I watched it with my younger brother. I watched it with the brother who came after him, and I plan on watching it with my newest brother and in the future with my kids. This movie reminds me of the good old days of Disney, before everything got... bad and superficial, and that my friend is me being nice.

Now to the movie, It's more or less about a girl named Marnie whose mother doesn't let her celebrate Halloween, but Marnie still loves the holiday. Her grandmother visits once a year and only on Halloween, And is a bit of a Halloween fanatic with a few odd "quirks" to her. Marnie gets Harry Pottered and when see's her mother and her grandmother doing magic. She finds out she's a witch, sneaks away to this magical place called Halloween Town and has an adventure. The movie series continues on as she grows. There's one that takes place shortly after the first. The third takes place in high school where a few of the mythical beings from Halloweentown attend a normal human high school with Marnie for reasons that you must watch the movie for. Then the final movie, Marnie is in college, and it ends amazingly like all the other movies. So if you haven't watched it, I recommend that you spend a Saturday binging on this movie.

2. Twitches and Twitches Two
Tia and Tamera Maury are the two stars of this Disney Channel original movie and guess what? They play twins. Total shocker, right? I like this movie because it places a huge emphasis on family, and it's hilarious. Don't get me wrong, the movie has it's drama scenes down packed, but there is no funnier pair of twins than Tia and Tamera.

The movie is about a pair of twins, these twins were born in a world of magic (shocker), and when the "Darkness" started taking over this world, the twins parents send them away into the world of humans, where they are separated and grow as complete opposites. One twin, Camyrn, is raised by a wealthy couple. Alex is raised by a single mom and is a night owl who doesn't sleep till the sun sets, and always instinctually writes about a pair of magical twin sisters. Alex is lives with her friend Lucinda when her mother dies. Camyrn on the other hand awakes when the sunrises, and is an artist. Unlike her sister is is outgoing and spoiled. The movie goes on to them meeting and finding out about the themselves and where they come from. They discover their home world is in danger and like a real Disney movie, head back to save it (though it does take a little convincing, but don't we all when asked to do something crazy?)

3. The Nightmare before Christmas
I'm sure you have all heard the lyrics, 'This is Halloween' over and over again. If you go to Hot Topics any time of year you can probably find something involving the 'Nightmare before Christmas'. Even if you've never seen the movie, you've probably heard about it. It's an animated movie, and at first glance you may think it's ridiculous. Then you watch it and the movie become completely absorbed.

The movie is about a skeleton named Jack Skellington. (Very creative if you ask me.) This movie also has a place named Halloweentown. The inhabitants of this world is full of Ghouls, ghost, mummies, vampires, werewolves, goblins, zombies, deformed monsters, and witches. Jack Skellington is the 'Pumpkin King' who organizes the annual Halloween holiday. Jack has grown tired of this routine, he has to do it every year, and now he's bored. Let's face it, if we were in his shoes, we would be also. He somehow opens a portal to Christmas and is impressed. Jack becomes obsessed with Christmas and this leads to a crazy adventure. I won't spoil the movie for any newcomers, but it has romance, some action, some drama, and a lot of secret messages that will have you applauding Tim Burton for his cleverness. I'll end the this little segment with one of the movies meanings. You can be tired of being yourself, but there is no one better than you. So don't try to be anyone else.

So what are you doing this October? I hope this list inspired you to do some watch some throwback movies, because now I'm in a mood to binge.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
