Summer. For some, it is a time of fun in the sun and just overall relaxation. However, for many students, it means going back to your summer job, or multiple jobs. College is extremely expensive for most people, so summer jobs are a necessary part of life if we want to be able to survive the school year. While all sorts of jobs exist, in my experience, most of these apply to any and all sorts of jobs.

The moment when you realize summer really means working

You're all excited for school to be done, and then you realize that all it really means is that you will spend your time at a job instead of in classes or studying.

Walking into your job on the first-day-back

You feel determined, strong, and a little bit scared.

Seeing your work friends for the first time since last summer

You will miss your school friends, but you are also glad to be back with the people who make your job somewhat fun.

When you get into your work mode

Those moments when you get really into your job and are having so much fun you actually forget you are working, are actually the best.

When you get off of work before your co-workers

Admit it, you find great joy in being able to leave, when your co-workers need to still be there.

When you finally have a day off

Especially if you are working two jobs like I am, having a day off of both jobs is very rare. So when you do get a day off, it's spent making the most of your time. Also, it usually includes a lot of sleeping.

When you need to wake up early for your shift

This is when you really question if the money is really worth it.

Talking to someone who doesn't need to work a summer job

You oddly take pride in the fact that you are working all summer. It makes you feel as though you have your life together.

When you get sent home from work early

Sometimes you just need that little bit of time to really appreciate life.

When Summer is over and it's time to go back to school

Whether or not you will admit it, you'll miss your work friends, and a part of you will miss the job too. There's a reason you picked your job, so while there may be a lot of parts you won't miss, there are still parts that you will miss.

Summer jobs are usually pretty awful. However, just as it is with any Disney movie, there will be great highs, in addition to the low points. These great moments remind you that you are the one who determines how the summer will be, so you should make the most out of it.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
