Yes, we are technically adults. Even though I am over the age where I am responsible for myself, I still find happiness and knowledge from the movies of my childhood. The Disney princesses were something that I was obsessed with as a child, but even now I still learn something from these beloved movies. Here are 15 things I, and probably you, too, should do more of. Lessons learned from Disney Princesses!

1. Reading

We all need to read our textbooks more, but reading for fun and being able to be transported to another world, which is something that college students do not do enough of! Belle showed us a kids, that reading is the easiest way to travel all over the world and experience great things. Next time you have a little free time, pick up a book. Be Belle for a little while.

2. Living Each Second

I find myself wishing for the weekend, wishing my weeks away. Cinderella had one night. To live her dream and do what she’s always wanted. Living each second and making sure that you are living it to the fullest! College is a great time, enjoy it. Don’t wish your life away.

3. Giving it Your All

Giving it everything you’ve got is hard in college. You have so many credit hours to juggle, then clubs and friends on top of that. I have found that I am prioritizing my life and not doing everything with all the power I can. Tiana worked every day 100 percent to reach her goals, maybe we should too. Yeah, that assignment is total crap and the teacher probably will barely look at it, but still giving it your all is important.

4. Kindness Matters

College is a stressful time and I find myself becoming hardened to others because of the constant stress and never-ending work. I have found that while my life is crumbling apart, being kind to others and doing things for others is all that matters. Be kind like Snow White and everything will eventually fall into place around you.

5. Never Give Up

College is hard. We are under constant stress, and everyone has had those breakdowns when you don’t think you can do anymore. Mulan did not think she could do anymore, that she could not do what she needed to do, but she got up and did it. I need to understand to take each thing one step at a time. Don’t let anyone tell you what you can and can’t do.

6. Your Family is Important

While most of us is away from our families for the first time, this does not mean they are any less important, if anything they are more important. Having a place to go back to, a support system that will push you to do your best and be there for you in the best and worse times is so important. Merida saw that while you can disagree with your parents and fight, they are still a huge influence on your life. Next time you need someone, pick up the phone and call your family.

7. Don't Judge Others

In the days of tinder and hot or not, it’s commonplace to judge someone on their appearance and not think about what their personality is. Allowing yourself to know someone may be the way you find a prince in what you thought was a beast.

8. Try New Things

I don’t know about you, but I get into routines and I don’t try anything new. Being able to go somewhere new, try something different or just make a needed change is so important. Rapunzel left everything she knew for her dreams and coming out of her comfort zone changed everything for her. Try something new tomorrow.

9. Fight for What You Care About

It is so easy to just agree with others and not cause any problems, but it is so important to fight for what matters. Whether you care about saving rainforests/understanding or awareness on the subject, speak out! Pocahontas was open and honest about how she felt about her land and how important it was in preserving it. Speak up when something you care about is not being a concern!

10. Your Dreams Matter

Most of us in college have some kind of dream for the future. Whether that is what you want to be, do or see, it is important. Being able to chase those dreams is essential. Ariel chased her dreams to be on land, regardless of what others said. Just don’t sell your voice to an evil sea witch.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
