I love the Disney company and everything they stand for. When a cast member (an employee at a Disney park) is going through Traditions, which is their first day of training, they are taught many technical aspects of their job. But the most important thing they will learn that day is the goal of their job; to create happiness for the guests. The Disney company stands for happiness and magic. Not only in the theme parks, but all other aspects of the company as well. Here are a few reasons why I love Disney so much.

1. The Music

Any classic Disney production has an amazing music score behind it. Whether it’s Alan Menken, Randy Newman, Phil Collins, or even the Sherman Brothers, the music simply brings the story together. Not only does the music bring the plot and movie together, it also brings people together. People enjoy singing the fun Disney songs with each other at a party, on a long car ride, or just a Disney karaoke sing-a-long.

2. The Parks

As I walk right down the middle of Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom looking at Cinderella Castle, I never fail to get emotional. I’m home. Walt Disney World to me, and many others, is home. It’s where I can be my full disnerd self with no judgement. In fact, the cast members at the parks, encourage you. The friendly cast members are there to help make happiness and magical moments, special for each and every guest. The Disney parks just have an overall happy feeling to them. It’s a nice get away from the trouble filled world. The parks are a world of fantasy, fairy tales, and happy endings. That’s why I like visiting Walt Disney World so much.

3. The Movies

Disney movies are the epitome of Disney magic. Disney films teach us to believe in the impossible and to never give up on our dreams. If Cinderella never tried to go to the ball, she would have never found her Prince Charming. Everyone called Tiana crazy for her dream of owning a restaurant, but that didn’t stop her from achieving her lifelong dream of running her own restaurant. Disney movies teach us to believe in ourselves, even in the darkest of times. They show us that with a hard work, determination, and a little bit of pixie dust, all our dreams can come true.

4. Walt Disney

Walter Elias Disney is my inspiration. Everyone doubted him, but in the end, those doubts, only fueled him to keep moving forward. Early on in his career, Walt Disney had to file for bankruptcy with his company. He tried to save his company with a new cartoon character, but unfortunately, Walt lost the rights to his new character from a bad deal and contract. That still didn’t stop him. On the train home from his deal gone wrong, he came up with a new cartoon character. You might have heard of him, Mickey Mouse. Even though Walt still had failure after failure, he kept moving forward and eventually was able to create the one and only, Mickey Mouse. He never let his failures stop him of reaching his dream.

5. Disney Allows Me To Be A Young Kid Again

Peter Pan got it right when he said that growing up was scary. Growing up and becoming an adult is a big, daunting task. It has many lessons and some of those life lessons aren’t easy to learn. Disney let’s me leave reality and enter a fantasy world. If it’s for a week vacation at Walt Disney World, or even just an hour and a half long Disney movie, I forgot about the outside world and just see the fantasy world Disney focuses on. When you enter Magic Kingdom, or start up your favorite Disney movie, you simply forget about all your problems, just for a little while. It’s a feel good movie that always leaves you with a smile. That’s why I love Disney so much as a company. Their company goal is to create happiness and that’s what I think this whole world needs a little more of. Happiness and magic.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
