Disney is Life?

Is liking Disney too much of a Childish thing?

Disney is Life?

So everyone knows that I have a thing for Disney stuff...Well, not just the movies or the stores or even the theme parks, but the company itself. Not many people know much about the company except for the fact that they make some pretty awesome movies like "Tangled" (Flynn Rider was probably the best character in that whole movie), "Frozen" (I like warm hugs like Olaf), and of course everyone's favorite, "The Little Mermaid" (because everyone just wishes they were a mermaid). So bearing this in mind: is liking or even loving Disney too much of a childish thing?

I, for one, love Disney; I actually look to the creator Walt Disney for inspiration at times when I need it. Not many people know this, but he failed three times before he came up with Mickey Mouse. That's right — the most famous mouse in animation came from three failures. Walt went bankrupt three separate times, was evicted from his apartment and lost all of his closest friends simply because no one wanted to buy his animations. Do you know how inspiring it is to look at that and say "Wow he created all of this out of nothing?" So yeah, I look up to him in times of need, especially when I think about writing a paper and coming up blank on a topic.

So is Disney a childish thing to like? Not really. If you think about it, there are always different stories behind all of the movies. The theme parks were made with a future in mind for people who want to cherish the magic. If you haven't gone to either park, I would definitely put it on a bucket list because I firmly believe everyone should meet Mickey Mouse at least once. In my case, I met both Mickey and Minnie and I recently got a tattoo of Minnie Mouse ears that looks fabulous and is included down below with the picture of Mickey and myself as well as my mom, me and Minnie. Disney is not just a passion, it's also something to keep me moving and talking about. I literally think I know more about Disney (random facts and useless knowledge) than anything else.

There's a museum dedicated to Disney in California, San Francisco to be precise. It has all of the original drawings and cameras that were used to make the first Disney films. I want to work there eventually as an exhibitionist. Disney fills my life so much and it is always a constant reminder that sometimes we just have to keep moving forward and follow our dreams. That's exactly what I do every day! I move forward and remember that a dream is a wish that your heart makes, so keep on believing and do what you love and you will continue to succeed. Disney is not childish and whoever tells you so is wrong!

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
