As soon as October hit as a kid, I knew the one thing that I looked forward to more than actually dressing up on the 31st was the movie marathon on Disney channel. I could finally curl up on my couch and watch some of my favorite movies like "Hocus Pocus" and have a legitimate reason to do so. We're adults now and we don't need to justify when we watch what we watch. But, for no other reason other than for nostalgia's sake, I did make a movie marathon list of my own of all of my favorite Disney Halloween movies. Prepare to have all of the feels, including the spooky ones.
"Halloweentown," "Halloweentown High," and "Return to Halloweentown"
It's just not Halloween without watching this trifecta movie heaven. I admit that the first time I saw these movies they scared me as much as I loved them. But after realizing that the "monsters" can be good guys and that they don't have to be scary, I was a converted Halloweentown fan. Also, I'm pretty sure every girl got to live their dreams of being a badass witch by watching Marnie's adventures.
"The Nightmare Before Christmas"
Tim Burton does it again with this beautifully and meticulously crafted film. The music alone is enough to haunt and enchant us once again, but there's so much more to love. We can all empathize with the need to be free like Sally or to make someone of ourselves like Jack, even when all of the odds are against us. And the brilliancy of it is we would never have expected to fall in love with a skeleton or a rag doll brought to life. You should also probably add "The Corpse Bride" and "Coraline" to your watch list if you love claymation.
"The Addams Family" and "Addams Family Values"
If I could only dress up as one character for the rest of my life it would have to be Morticia Addams. And if I had to choose one aesthetic for the rest of my life, it'd be this. You can't go wrong with this iconic movie game-changer.
"Twitches"
This movie definitely holds a special place in my heart. I can't even imagine my childhood without "Sister, Sister" and their other movie "Seventeen Again" (not the one with Zac Efron). Finding out I had an awesome and rich twin sister and somehow also awakening our dormant magical powers to defeat "The Darkness" and discovering we were actually royalty from a far-off kingdom was pretty much all I wanted as an 8-year-old.
"Hocus Pocus"
Last, but certainly not least, we have my personal Halloween movie favorite. I mean, what's not to love? You've got Sarah Jessica Parker playing a goofy, flirty witch. There's Zachary Biggs, a (surprisingly very cute) 17th-century boy trapped in the body a cat. And there's Bette Midler. Happy Halloween indeed!
You can find a couple of these on Netflix and Amazon Prime, but all of these will be airing on Disney Channel, AMC, Freeform (ABC/ABC Family), and Syfy. Check out the 2016 TV schedule for them here.
