I sit alone at the Be Our Guest restaurant, looking around suspiciously. That's when I hear his reptilian voice behind me.
"I hear that you've caused quite a stir around the park."
"Hello, Robert. Care to have a seat?"
Iger takes a seat across from me. He's very mindful of his suit as he does so, as if the poor people who have used the chair before him might rub off on the guy. I hate him instantly. Just look at his soulless stare:
"Robert, I guess that I should consider myself blessed that you were willing to take time out of your busy day of suing preschools and facilitating hostile takeovers of every franchise I loved as a child. What's the occasion?"
"Mr. Nightingale, you have broken into several rides all across DisneyWorld. I can't prove it. That's the only reason I haven't kicked you out of here yet."
"If you can't prove anything, then I haven't done anything, Robert," I say with a smirk.
Iger leans in, just close enough that I have to meet him half way to hear what he has to say. I notice in his eyes a bloodlust. For the first time, I fear that I might be out of my depth.
"You know that I could have you killed 100 times over any time that I'd like," he whispers. I'm shaken by this, but trying not to let it show. I take a big gulp.
"If you meant to do that, I don't think we'd be having this meeting right now, Robert."
"Are you so sure about that, and it's Mr. Iger to you."
I'm sweating. I can feel the drops forming and then running down my forehead. Can he see me sweating? Of course he can, this guy didn't get to the place he is in life by not being observant.
"What are the Hidden Mickeys?"
"Excuse me?"
"I've seen them all over the park, 'Mr. Iger'. At the Haunted Mansion..."
"...at the World Showcase..."
"...and at Everest..."
"...That last one was particularly hard to find, for the record. So, good on you."
Iger sits, dumbfounded for a second. I take great joy in the idea of besting this giant, if only for a second. He collects his thoughts, getting up to leave.
"The Hidden Mickeys aren't meant for you," he says on his way out of the restaurant.
"I'm going to find what they're hiding, Robert! You mark my words. You can't hide this forever."
