There are too many girls in recent weeks who are announcing their newfound love for Justin Bieber. These girls make remarks such as, “Justin’s new album is so great; I think I’m becoming a Belieber.” Or “Wow, look at his new haircut and style. He's becoming one of my favorites.” Sorry to burst your bubble, girls, but this just doesn’t cut it. The same girls who are now pronouncing their love for the Bieb's new body, music and tats are the same girls who were telling us true Beliebers how his voice sounded girly or his music was lame only a couple of years ago.
Sure, it’s great to have new Beliebers join the Bieber fam; however, it’s an insult to day-one Beliebers that new girls are jumping on the bandwagon now, six years since his first single was released. There are so many reasons why the day-one Beliebers will never be replaced and will always share a special bond.
1. We have seen all of the kidrauhl videos at least a hundred times each.
The page that started it all. We have seen "With You" and "You Got It Bad" countless times, and they will never get old. Videos of Justin playing on the Canadian streets as a pre-teen and in his living room as a 6 year old will always remind us of where he came from and his raw talent.
2. We have loved Justin since his debut single “One Time.”
I will never forget the moment I came across an article on rising pop star Justin Bieber, while sitting upstairs with my friends at a cheer sleepover. At first glance, he was obviously the single most beautiful creature on this earth, with the best smile ever (not to mention the perfect hair), and after listening to his single “One Time,” I was hooked. All Beliebers re-watched that music video a thousand times after its release and wished we could be that girl in the striped shirt. Not to mention, what kind of 15-year-old kid throws a huge banger at Usher’s house?
3. We have waited in line for hours for the release of both of his movies.
All Beliebers have sat outside of that movie theater, surrounded by hundreds of other Beliebers, for hours waiting to get in and get the best seat in the theater. We thought that “Never Say Never” couldn’t be topped until we saw “Believe,” which was hands down amazing. Some of us even took it a step further and saw it in 3D to get the full effect of that beautiful hair swoop.
4. Some of us have been blessed enough to see him live.
I am one of the lucky ones who spent the night of Jan. 15, 2013 on row 18 on the floor of Justin’s Believe tour, and it was actually the most magical night of my life. (I swear we made eye contact at least five times.) Those of us who have yet to see him live will see him sooner or later. In fact, you may even have a ticket to the Purpose Tour waiting for you in your stocking.
5. We have actually said a prayer that we would be chosen as the OLLG before we die.
Yeah, you all know what I'm talking about. We have our fingers crossed each time a new tour is released in hopes that we will be chosen as that one lucky girl at the show. That lucky girl who is chosen by Justin's mom to sit on stage and basically be serenaded my Justin for an entire song, as his "One Less Lonely Girl." Although the odds are VERY low, someone still has to be picked right?
6. We know every word to "My World" (along with every other album).
If you don’t know every word to “Common Denominator” or “Down to Earth,” are you even a Belieber at all? This album was my go-to during middle school, and it still is today.
7. We stuck by his side through everything (even that time he went to jail).
Even in the midst of his darkest times, Beliebers stood faithfully by his side. Girls who are now praising Bieber's new work are some of the same ones who bashed on him and his actions when he was arrested. Besides, everyone makes mistakes right? And he looked just as cute in that orange jumpsuit.
8. We've been Beliebing through all of his stages.
From the hair-swooping, pop-singing preteen to the tatted, muscular man with the voice of an angel that is still a top record-selling artist, we have been full-blown supporters all along the way. (Did I mention the tats and the muscles?)
The point is, you can't simply become a Belieber just because you like one album. True Beliebers have spent hours listening to every album, waiting in insane lines, asking for concert tickets year after year for Christmas, and supporting Bieber since his debut in 2009. "Purpose" is one of Justin's best albums yet, and every girl is learning to love him with catchy songs like "What Do You Mean" and "Sorry"—but there will never be a comparison for the girls who have watched him grow up and love him more and more every day. So, if you are a girl who is "in love with Justin's new music," just remember those of us who have loved all of his music.
