A while back, I did an article about who each Disney character would have supported in the primary elections. Now that season has passed, and our current President-elect is picking his cabinet members. A few of his real-life picks have created some tension and controversy, so exploring which Disney characters he might appoint to his cabinet lightens the mood a little bit.
(I chose each character based on which cabinet position might suit him or her, not because they bear any resemblance to any real-life secretaries. Also, this list by no means covers every cabinet position).
1. Chief of Staff
LeFou, if you remember, is a greasy, but fiercely loyal sidekick to a very self-centered villain. He is exactly the kind of person Donald Trump would pick as his main right-hand man.
2. Press Secretary
Obviously Hans was not a great dude, and therefore a suitable pick for a President-elect who's also not a great dude. But he was a smooth, charming enough talker to be well-suited for dealing with the press. The idea would be that, like Anna, the American people might easily fall for every soundbite he feeds them.
3. Secretary of State
Frollo, a self-righteous, anti-immigrant villain with a history of sexual harassment, bears an unfortunate resemblance to Donald Trump. He totally would have voted for Trump and demanded a powerful position in exchange for his loyalty.
4. Secretary of Treasury
The Sheriff of Nottingham just belongs in Trump's cabinet. Trump and the iconic villain are both corrupt, obsessed with money and couldn't care less about liberty.5. Ambassador to the UN
Like Frollo, Gaston would be a villain who supported Trump in the election and then demanded a cabinet position in return. And while he treated Belle terribly, he managed to woo the rest of their town, so he'd probably be a villain's choice for a diplomat; certainly a better choice than, say, Ursula. Also, he wouldn't care that the UN is a totally useless institution; he wasn't that sharp.
6. Secretary of Education
Mother Gothel is obsessed with her own power and appearance. She'd be thoroughly corrupt but insist all her actions were "for the good of the children!" Also, I don't think she'd be bothered that the federal Department of Education isn't even constitutional.
7. Secretary of the Navy
Captain Hook, because obviously.
8. Secretary of Defense
Again, Shan Yu is a quite obvious one. He has military experience, and of course Donald Trump would pick a Secretary of Defense who wants to start a war with China.
