We have all heard our parents start a story with, "Back when I was a kid". Sometimes they tell us stories of lessons they learned, music they listened to, and television shows they grew up watching. But have you considered that you are now old enough to say, "Back when I was a kid"? I think its time to reflect on the wonderful shows Disney Channel gave to us as children.
1. You need to realize something... in 2000, Even Stevens aired for the first time.
Finally! A television show about a typical family... NOT! I can honestly say that if I had a brother as obnoxious as Louis or a sister as evil as Ren, I would have gone mad. I think it is safe to assume that most people are thankful that all they had to do was watch a show about it for entertainment instead of actually living it.
2. Just a reminder, Lizzie McGuire aired in 2001.
I wonder how many young children (yes, that includes you) wished they too had an animated alter ego that was able to tell the truth inside their head. And not to mention, Lizzie's best friends Miranda and Gordo helped make the best friend trio that we had seen.
3. Call me, beep me if you wanna reach me- oh.
It's not 2002? Am I the only one who finds it nearly impossible to speak of Kim Possible without getting the theme song stuck in your head for hours? And what could have been more entertaining in 2002 than watching Ron Stoppable make a hilarious attempt at being a sidekick? Probably only watching an awesome female hero repeatedly save the day!
4. Woosh! What was that? Just your typical vision of That's So Raven from 2003.
Was there anything more amazing than watching Raven catch a glimpse of the future? I can answer that for you: watching Raven, Eddie, and Chelsea try to clean up the chaotic aftermath of course!
5. This time we aren't catching glimpses of the future but keeping the secret of a family from the future!
In 2004, Phil had to keep the secret that he and his family were from the future. The only person who knew was his great friend, and eventually girlfriend, Keely. I'm sure you could only imagine how difficult that secret was to keep.
6. You better watch out, its 2005 and Zack and Cody are most likely being hoodlums. But what else is there to do when you live in a hotel full time?
Poor Mr. Moseby, all he wanted to do was run Mr. Tipton's hotel as well as possible. But with those twin boys running around rampant, it was near to impossible.
7. Who wouldn't want the best of both worlds being both a pop star and an average girl? That's right! Hannah Montana.
In 2006, Miley Stewart followed her dreams to become a pop star. Thankfully, she had the help of a blonde wig to help hide who she really was in order to stay an average teen. And she could not have done it without the help of Lilly (also known as Lola when undercover) and Oliver by her side.
8. With a simple flick of a wand and a spell, 2007 became a magical year with the Wizards of Waverly place.
Alex and her brothers Justin and Max were constantly learning new ways to use their magic. However, they had to constantly find ways to keep from being exposed to the people in their hometown.
So as you get older, don't forget about those great television shows you watched as a kid. Because that way when you're a parent, you can nag your kids the same way your parents did to you. After all, it'll be about time to reflect back on your childhood if it isn't already!
