Disney Channel Shows You May Have Forgotten About

To the dismay of 90s kids everywhere, Disney Channel television shows are not what we grew up on. They now have dogs with blogs and who knows what else. Gone are the days of That's So Raven, Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens. However, there are a few shows that we may or may not remember from back in the day that deserve some recognition.

1. Life With Derek

Brought to the Disney Channel from Canada, the show focused on a hybrid family where the two eldest siblings, Derek and Casey, constantly bickered. It was a fairly entertaining show and I wouldn't mind watching some re-runs.

2. Naturally, Sadie

Another Canadian production, Naturally, Sadie centers on a girl named Sadie, who is truly one with nature. She's like the younger, Disney-fied version of Jane Goodall.

3. The Buzz on Maggie

Insects come to life in this animated show about teen fly Maggie Pesky, as she navigates through young adulthood.

4. American Dragon: Jake Long

Jake Long is am average Chinese-American kid just trying to balance school and normal teenage-boy things, while trying to protect the magical world from evil creatures. Also, he can turn into a dragon.

5. Dave, The Barbarian

Set in the middle ages, Dave and his two sisters and uncle must protect their family's kingdom while his parents, the king and queen, are off fighting evil.

6. Brandy and Mr. Whiskers

Brandy and Mr. Whiskers are domesticated pets who fall out of the cargo room of an airplane while traveling with their owners, and end up falling into the Amazon Rainforest. This show was actually one of my favorites.

7. The Replacements

Two orphans stumble upon the company, Fleemco, that allows one to replace any person they want with someone new. It really wasn't that great of a show, but the idea was original. A for effort.

8. Fillmore!

Middle schoolers Cornelius Fillmore and his partner, Ingrid, solve various crimes in their school and neighborhood.

9. Braceface

Voiced by Clueless's Alicia Silverstone, Sharon Spitz deals with the trials of being a young teenage girl in this animated series, and also made braces look like the worst thing to ever have put on your teeth (accurate). Thanks for making me even more disgusted with the metal I needed, Sharon.

10.The Weekenders

These seventh graders had more adventures on the weekends than I currently do now.

11. Lloyd in Space

A show set in the future that focused on young alien, Lloyd. It was a show ahead of its time (I'm punny).

12. Pepper Ann

The main character, Pepper Ann, must figure out middle school alongside her best friends. This was a really good show.

13. As The Bell Rings

A Disney Channel short showing what high school kids do in between classes. Demi Lovato was in it before she became Demi Lovato.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
