A couple months ago, Disney Channel celebrated their 100th original movie. And with that celebration comes reminiscing and the urge to binge watch our favorites. Ever since the late '90s, Disney Channel has blessed its viewers with movies that they will never forget. These movies will remain a very important part of my childhood, and although I am all grown up now, I still enjoy these classics and everything they have taught me. Here’s my take on what Disney Channel Original Movies have taught me about life.

1. High School Musical

Let me start off by saying this will always be my favorite Disney Channel movie. It taught me to follow my dreams. regardless of what people think. and my true friends will support me in that journey. Most importantly, it taught me that I should never stick to the status quo.

2. The Cheetah Girls

You should always believe in yourself. No matter the obstacles, don’t let anyone get in the way of you following your dreams – no matter where they take you. It taught me that friends are family, too, and that they’ll always have your back.

3. The Color of Friendship

The color of our skin shouldn’t matter. Two people from two completely different worlds can come together and change each other's lives.

4. Motocrossed

This movie taught girls all over the world that we can do anything we put our mind to. Nothing is simply a “boy sport” or a “girl sport,” and individuals should never have their right to participate taken away. Do what you’re passionate about.

5. Thirteenth Year

Puberty is a thing. Even if you sprout gills and a tail, just go with the flow.

6. Cow Belles

You should never, ever take anything for granted. Always appreciate what you have and remember: a little hard work never killed anybody – although it created a huge mess at the dairy factory.

7. You Wish!

This movie also taught us to never take anything, especially people, for granted. Never wish away someone if they’re being annoying because you’ll never understand how much they mean to you until they’re gone.

8. Cadet Kelly

Don’t judge a book by its cover, and with hard work and determination, you can do anything you put your mind to.

9. Lemonade Mouth

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. You have the power to bring people together and make a change. Don’t let people stand in the way of your dreams.

10. Eddie’s Million Dollar Cook-Off

Friends support friends. If a friend wants to try something new, support them. Even if it means spending less time with them.

11. Halloweentown

There’s power in families. Stick together, and you can accomplish anything.

12. Camp Rock

Never hide the real you. People will love you for who you are. Always fight for what matters.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
