I'm tired. I'm tired and ashamed of this election, of the choices I've been offered my first time being eligible to vote for a president, of trying to understand how a misogynistic, racist candidate has made it this far.
But, most importantly, I'm ashamed for the Trump supporters calling for a repeal of the 19th amendment when women fought so hard to gain the right to vote. It's disgraceful. It's heart-breaking. It undermines any ounce of support or respect they may say they have for women.

I struggle to open most news articles nowadays because they make me sick to my stomach. I can't read about all the ignorance anymore, or about what disgusting statement Trump let slip out of his mouth during the most recent presidential debate, or about all the potential corruption.
And it isn't just Trump. It's a fair amount of his supporters (not all of them). The ones that aren't afraid to make themselves known. The ones who will be as loud and obnoxious as they need to be to get him into office. The ones who started #repealthe19th as soon as a poll was released stating that Trump would win if only men voted. So, obviously, the logical choice is to take away a human right, right?
I, like this Twitter user, find the irony kind of funny. Some of Trump's supporters are all gung-ho about the idea of taking away part of society's right to vote in this so-called "democracy," but as soon as someone tries to regulate gun control (which, by the way, does not equate to taking guns away) in an effort to make the country safer... God-forbid we even suggest that.
But repealing the 2nd amendment is a ridiculous notion, isn't it? We wouldn't dream of taking that away because it takes away one of the country's original rights. Women's right to vote wasn't originally established by our founding father's, but that's because we lived in a different time. Women didn't have a lot of power back then. We were seen as "belonging in the house" and "not fit for the working world."
Some people, like Trump's son, still feel that way. They believe that women "don't belong in the workforce," especially if they can't handle sexual harassment. Those are the people we're trying to fight, the people that are the prime example for why it's so important for a woman to have the right to vote.
We haven't even had the right to vote for 100 years. It's still new, it's still fresh. Women are still learning how to use their voice. But it's hard when your voice isn't listened to, when you come forward about assault and are dismissed because the man is powerful and has supporters.
I don't think Obama's going to repeal the 19th amendment. It's not on his to-do list. But it could be on Trump's, along with the defunding of Planned Parenthood and the belief that women belong in the home. A candidate like him is going to see to it that women are put back in their "place," whatever that is. Women have come too far to use our vote in a way that could backtrack all the progress we've made.
But, you know what they say: history is doomed to repeat itself.
