It might be true that this country, as you said, is dangerous and perhaps people are nicer in Canada like you said. You said you want to leave when you get the chance. Yes, you are older and homeless so you have an experience I do not.
But you can also go on and live your life in safer conditions than others, especially on the 4th of July.
You will not receive the message "go back to your country" around this time and you will not feel uncomfortable with the narrative of this country. You can walk freely with the color of your skin with your English speaking self.
This holiday does not bring discrimination because of your skin pigmentation and that is the case with your day-to-day life.
As you spoke to me, did you ever think at how this country could be dangerous for me or anyone else in that store we were in? Do you have to live each day worried because of your skin tone or accent? Are you able to enter a restroom and feel comfortable with your gender? What do you think of immigrants and their struggles to come here?
You do have the liberty to actually leave the country when you want, as you mentioned. For others, their situation is much more complex and sometimes their life is much more at ease than in the country they escaped. Yet, they receive the most pushback for this country.
I would like you to reflect on the physical body you possess and the difference your life has compared to many others due to your physicality.
Learn to see the danger other people fear, as well as what safety is to them.
