WHITE verses BLACK

Human verses Human

The United States of America is, without question the greatest country in our world yet, not without its conflicts.

People from other countries literally, are dying trying to enter this great country perhaps immune to its dangers or, perhaps they perceive the dangers as minuscule to what they leave behind, often sure death.

Our country is very young, established only two-hundred forty years ago by a few very smart courageous rebels! Yet, we have a conflict of profound and deadly importance still, born from inequality of Humans and maintained by some for perhaps, selfish reasons.

Born amid the conflict with its parent England, our founding fathers sought to establish a philosophy of freedom for all its citizenry within a Democracy fit for all mankind and, equality for all in the United States of America.

The US Confederates disagreed with two principles of our elected democratic representatives; a United States including all the states within its borders and, the end to slavery. Hence, a civil war ensued to answer these questions.

The resolution to the US Civil War of 1861-1865 was to dissolve the confederation of some states established in conflict with a sovereign nation and, an end to slavery in our country.

Yet, slavery continued in the minds of some primarily in the Southern States pitting men against men and an unresolved mindset of White Supremacy.

Laws were passed to profess again, that all men are created equal with the Civil Rights act of nineteen-sixty-four, signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson; a landmark civil rights bill that outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin within our borders.

Discrimination against people of color, other than white skin in the United States has continued to this present day. Conflicts abound between races primarily Black and White. Bigots exist on both sides and the confits continue, escalating including murders rising in some areas.

One may only ask, “Why does this conflict continue?” Conjecture is all that I can muster as to the reasons conflicts continue and thrive in the greatest land on earth.

Perhaps some see themselves as needy and place demands on the populous. Thus, resulting in emotional conflicts and, with that being said, isn’t it our emotions that fuel our misunderstanding and distrust of our fellow man regardless of color?

I understand that it is human nature to distrust one not similar than you but, we have the ability to reason and ought to override our innate primal survival instincts.

Common in man is his innate ability to join in groups for survival, for protection, to be protected.

How is it that we allow ourselves to be controlled by such innate behavior by perceiving a person of color less than equal to white people, if that is the case?

Actually, the answer, if there is one, goes well beyond my mortal understanding of the fractured psyche of man.

And, I know the answer is polarized on all sides. My mere mortal brain does not have an answer to this centuries-old problem!

One thing I know for sure is, I treat others as I wish to be treated; and that is fair, without prejudices and, with respect. I would like to think that others treat me the same way but, I know better, they do not.

However, knowing that others mistreat me does not of itself mean that I ought to mistreat them.

My values are greater than that!

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
