I'm not sure where I want to end up. I'm not sure if I can make goals for myself at the risk of being disappointed in the end. the truth is, I could very well be where I want to be in five years, or still be struggling to find myself.
In college, we are taught to explore every aspect of ourself with the hopes of finding something that will stick. We co-mingle ourselves with other groups because maybe being a part of a mix of personalities will eventually lead to us finding a blend of who we are. Deep down, some might think this is bullshit because we go into college with a good idea of who we are. This is true until you discover who you are. Think of college as a means of identifying not necessarily who you are going to be, but who you are at the moment. Don't go through every action second guessing your motives and hurting yourself over the end result. If you want to be social and go to parties, do it. Don't let people tell you that you are wasting your money or making bad decisions. If you want to stay home and study while every one else is out getting drunk, then do it. You might be called lame or antisocial, but who cares? In the end it is about what you want. There is no rule book on how your life should be lived.
There are no guidelines for how to act like a proper person. Yes, there are limitations on what is acceptable, but don't be afraid of discovering who you are. If you put yourself into a box and tell yourself that you have to be one type of person, you'll never grow. So be the dancer who can write amazing poetry. Be the chemistry major with an amazing ability to sing. Be the actor who can paint amazing pictures. Don't limit yourself. And never let others limit you.
I'm not sure of where I will be in a few years or what I will be doing, but I'm working on myself every day, and so should you. Get out there and show yourself how great you are, you have the ability to be amazing
