You are surround by books. It's hard to just choose one as you walk up and down the aisles of a bookstore or a library. You walk through a collection of books, pondering which one to get. You see one that you read about online somewhere, another one by your favorite author, or one that a friend recommended. As you keep walking up and down, something catches your eye. You stop where you are, and pick it off the shelf, and you just know it's your next favorite book
For some people, finding a new book to read is simple. They just go in knowing what they want exactly, find it, and take off with it. But if you're someone like me, then it can be very hard to just choose one book, especially if your absolute favorite series is over.
Finding the perfect book takes some skill, and other times it's just pure chance. For example, when I was a little sixth grader looking through the stacks of "Reading Is Fundamental" books, I was drawn to this particular book on the very edge of the table that was on the verge of falling off. On this book was a silhouette of a flying boy, and thus I was introduced to "Peter and the Starcatchers," by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson.
The book that was overlooked was how I discovered one of my favorite book series. Other things that attribute to finding that certain book could be anything like the cover, the spine, the style of writing, and even just the way it looks on a shelf. Sometimes it seems like it calls to you, and other times, it appears to be glowing.
Covers are usually the easiest way someone finds a book. Sometimes it's shiny, flashy, and has amazing artwork, like Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, or a simple cover like Fangirl.
So the next time you're in a bookstore or a library, look for that book that calls to you, that glows. It could possibly be your next all time favorite.
