Have you ever had the itch to just get away? To just get in the car and drive away, and just go somewhere where nobody knows your name?
Well, the other day I woke up and that itch was real!
I NEEDED to get away. I woke up at 6 a.m. and grabbed my phone and Googled places to explore in the northeast.
One of the top results that showed up was Burlington, Vermont, which was completely doable considering the fact that I live in Upstate New York.
A road trip is always more enjoyable when you have someone to share the experience with, so of course, I FaceTimed my best friends at 7 a.m. and told them to "get up and get changed because we are going on an adventure!"
Our two and a half-hour drive was filled with a complete jam-out session which was like a two and a half-hour concert (by US, of course!).
Arriving in the city of Burlington we were in complete shock and awe when we saw all of the street art that the city had to offer!
We took full advantage of this trip and totally played the stereotypical tourist role, complete with photoshoots in front of some cool street art, shopping in the cutest little boutiques, and exploring the city.
There is something to be said about finding things that your hometown doesn't actually offer, so let's just say coming from a small town that doesn't have a single payphone, seeing one was a shock!
Not gonna lie I seriously thought they no longer existed… oops, my bad!
When the day ended and we were driving back home, the feeling of self-satisfaction came over me and a weightless feeling followed. Sometimes all you need is a little escape and to disappear for a bit to put everything back into perspective.
Get in the car.
Drive.
Take the trip.
You won't regret it.
